It is irrelevant to me if cops, or anyone else, takes steroids. But it is not irrelevant that they act like thugs. Some people blame steroids for that or use it as an excuse for people with shitty attitudes and wife/girlfriend beaters. And while I guess it is theoretically possible that some steroids MIGHT cause someone to act out,* if they were responsible for all the "rage" that has been attributed to them people would be getting murdered in large numbers on a daily basis.

*Theoretically possible because we are all different and what works one way on me, or for me, may not be the same for you. By way of disclaimer I have taken steroids before and never had any of this so called "roid rage." And I doubt anyone does but I do know some have used it as an excuse for their bad behavior, behavior they had before they ever heard of steroids.

For me it's much simpler than that.

Why do you have so little respect for cops?

Because they have absolutely no respect for anyone.

Respect is earned, regardless of the establishment Nazi-like and Stalin-like notion that it is due for no other reason than that the establishment says so, and they are increasingly not earning it. They're merely showing contempt for people and society and only cementing their statuses as sociopaths and pyshopaths with most being pathological liars.

Then they talk about the "good ones," "heroes" as we're lectured, who stand by idly and do the "heroic" thing, namely refuse to speak against it much less do anything about it. Apparently See Something, Say Something and Not Saying No is Just like Saying Yes do not apply to heroes. After all, there wouldn't be many heroes if it did.

About the only cops that I have respect for are ex-cops, and I'm not talking about retired ones, I'm talking about those that quit for these very reasons.

The odds of being killed by cop in this country are at least a thousand times greater than ever being killed by terrorism, domestic or other. The odds of being harmed, beaten, tazed, rendered mentally damaged, etc., are exponentially greater than ever having be rendered that by terrorist attack.

Yet ...

I can't disagree with any of that. It seems like some people think cops or anyone else who wears a government uniform should be deified and be shown deference as a "hero." FTS, that term has become so overused now as to be meaningless. I don't refer to cops as heroes and I don't refer to the troops as heroes.

The police only have a duty to protect the "public at large", not the individual citizen. If you want to be safe from criminal attack, arm yourself and learn how to use it. ;)

It is a cliched overused term, much like when they say he's the next Hitler.

Most cops will tell people that when seconds count they are minutes away. That should be all the people need to know about the "duty" of cops to protect them (there is none).

I don't refer to cops as heroes and I don't refer to the troops as heroes.

No fooling. The troops are doing what they are ordered to do. The cops, well, they are just pay rollers who have assumed to much authority. ;)

Just think of what a different tune the people in the US would be singing if we had been invaded by a foreign power. And how we would then see those who fought against the invaders as "freedom fighters" and the aggressors as what they are, invaders who had no right to be here. Of course the aggressors, whoever they might be, would call those of us who fought against them "terrorists." All a matter of perspective.

Big amen to that.
