Citing statistics from different sources, the weekly said that within the next three to five years, the value of the global Internet of Vehicles market will reach 300 billion yuan (US$47.8 billion).
By the end of 2015, 60% of cars will be connected. And by 2020, the percentage will have increased to 90%.
Over the past year, there have been numerous partnerships between Chinese car makers and Internet service providers. They include those between SAIC Motor Corp and Alibaba Group; Beijing Automotive Group and LeTV; Dongfeng Motor and Chang'an Automobile and Huawei Technologies.
Two years ago, Google announced plans to develop a connected car in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen. Apple later forged partnerships with BMW, Audi and Toyota. Samsung, meanwhile, entered a deal with Hyundai.
