But they havent succeeded yet, and honestly, their chances of doing fade with each successive Republican administration and legislature. Liberty got another boost in the Lone Star state earlier this week after the Senate passed a measure allowing gun owners the right to openly carry handguns. Already, gun owners were able to openly carry rifles such as the AR-15 semi-automatic in public and obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun. But Monday the upper chamber approved a measure that would allow for the open carry of handguns after the owner obtained a license from the state. Typically, the measure was opposed by the party of soft tyranny; every Democrat in the upper chamber voted against it, while every Republican backed it. If it passes the GOP-controlled House, as expected, it will become law because Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, also a Republican, has promised he would sign it. Texas would then join 44 other states that allow the open carry of handguns; only 14 of those require a permit. The law in Texas would take effect January 1, 2016. So far, there have been few amendments tacked onto the bill but one of them would bar open carry on college campuses. Well see how that works out. Its obvious the majority of Texans prefer a political party that has an interest in constitutional government, no matter how many Democratic operatives work to undermine it and, ultimately, replace it. The Second Amendment is about a fundamental a liberty as those enshrined in the First Amendment, which is no doubt why it was placed so highly in the Bill of Rights. The question for Democrats, sans any evidence that concealed carry and open carry gun laws result in blood in the streets and frequent mass murders, and plenty of evidence that they save lives, is why they continue to oppose this basic constitutional right? Texas needs to pass constitutional carry: concealed and open. This new law STILL requires a license (background check, mugshot, fingerprints, $$$) from The State of Texas.
CC bump!
I guess I'm ready for open carry?? :p
Looks like you are ready for just about anything.
