Like when Kerry said that man-made climate change is as settled as gravity. Really, John? As settled as gravity? Thats an interesting statement considering that I dont recall you having a PhD. in physics. Or meteorology, for that matter. (He majored in Political Science, and he never received an A in his entire time at Yale. Surprised? Me, neither.) The problem, of course, is that man negatively impacting the climate is not settled by any stretch of the (objective thinkers) imagination. For that matter, John, maybe you havent really thought about your statement that much. Lets review it, shall we? You said When an apple falls from a tree, it will drop toward the ground. We know that because of the basic laws of physics. Science tells us that gravity exists, and no one disputes that[
]. So when science tells us that our climate is changing and human beings are largely causing that change, by what right do people stand up and just say, well, I dispute that, or I deny that elementary truth? Heres one of the big problems with your statement, John: science doesnt tell us that gravity exists; we observe it and do not need the scientific method to generate a hypothesis to test to know that gravity is true. Its a law. No scientific testing needed. Even more to point, though, is that science is not yet able to tell us how gravity works. Weve known about gravity for thousands of years before Newton stated the obvious in 1687, but we cant tell why it happens. Neither can science claim to have climate change pinned on the efforts of humankind. Kerrys statement is just another hack-job on the truth from someone who specializes in that. Poster Comment: According to scientists, the Earth and its solar system are in what is known as a "Maunder Minimum". The last time we were in that predicament was in the 1600s, and the Thames River in England was frozen over. Climate change, anyone? ;) Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
