(Reuters) - Saudi Arabia accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of hypocrisy on Sunday, telling an Arab summit that he should not express support for the Middle East while fuelling instability by supporting Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.

In a rare move, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that a letter from Putin would be read out to the gathering in Egypt, where Arab leaders discussed an array of regional crises, including conflicts in Syria, Yemen and Libya.

"We support the Arabs' aspirations for a prosperous future and for the resolution of all the problems the Arab world faces through peaceful means, without any external interference," Putin said in the letter.

His comments triggered a sharp attack from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal.

"He speaks about the problems in the Middle East as though Russia is not influencing these problems," he told the summit right after the letter was read out.

Relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia have been cool over Moscow's support for Assad, whom Riyadh opposes. The civil war between Assad's forces and rebels has cost more than 200,000 lives in four years.

"They speak about tragedies in Syria while they are an essential part of the tragedies befalling the Syrian people, by arming the Syrian regime above and beyond what it needs to fight its own people," Prince Saud said.

"I hope that the Russian president corrects this so that the Arab world's relations with Russia can be at their best level."

The Saudi rebuke may have been awkward for summit host Egypt, which depends heavily on billions of dollars in support from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab allies, but has also improved ties with Moscow.

In February, Putin received a grand welcome in Egypt, signaling a rapprochement.

It's so wonderful when muzzies start pointing fingers over who has sponsored the most terror.

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken

Yeah, reading stuff like this is even "funnier" when we consider that the originators of modern day terrorism are Israel with the bombing of the King David hotel in 1946 and by the US and England via the allied bombing campaign that broke with tradition and counted civilians in as targets for mass obliteration for the first time in history.

At least we can rest knowing that we're a good christian nation.

LOL

You nailed that!

America has become a team sport on the world combat scene. A few hundred too many combat video games being sold. And for the noncombatants, war has become America's favorite spectator sport.

Oddly, people drive in a similar manner.

It's a national mental disease spawned by our age of technology.

There are even a plethora media mechanisms that poke fun at how people are addicted to personal electronics of one sort or another as if it's a joke. Now cars are being made with WiFi. It's no f'ing wonder we need self-driving cars, people don't drive anymore, then entertain themselves and oh, by the way, they just happen to be behind the wheel.

This world and its technology is losing me quickly. I pine for the days whereby the only personal communication was via phone (even if cell phone), via letter (even if e-mail), or in person.

People all but literally live their lives electronically.

True. When Mrs.L got her new car with the BlueTooth technology, she spent over an hour with sales guy programming and trying to learn how to work all the gadgets therein.

I can drive it, but that's about it.

I have no need of a car/truck that does more than have a stereo system and the standard driving-related amenities.

Seriously, cars have become places for people to entertain themselves with driving becoming a secondary function for them. I drive a lot, and I see it all. It's disheartening, especially when you're behind some mentally defective person that's doing 5 or 10 below the speed limit and when (often after a mile or two or three) you have a chance to legally pass them all of a sudden they're doing 20 over trying to prevent you from passing them.

I mean seriously, what kind of a fucked up person behaves like that? Think about that, supposed everyone walked around like that? There'd be fights and ass-kickings left and right.

Our society is mental and most people have no clue how bad it is.
