Ten physicians recently sent a letter to Columbia University urging them to fire faculty member and celebrity physician Mehmet Oz, MD, because he promotes quack treatments that are not evidence based and supports labeling genetically modified foods.
Three of the physicians calling for his termination are part of the American Council on Science and Health (ACSH), a nonprofit organization that has been called a front group for the industries behind genetically modified foods, e-cigarettes, and fracking.
Dr Oz pointed out the groups members' conflicts of interest in a recent episode of his show, in which he said he is trying not to be silenced and claimed his right to free speech.
