Press TV has conducted an interview with Paul Larudee, with the Free Palestine Movement from Berkeley, to discuss the continued usurping of Palestinian lands by Israel. This is a rough transcription of the interview. Press TV: Many times, we see statistics coming out of the occupied lands which see yearly or monthly statistics, but this is just one month statistics and certainly it makes for very depressing reading. Larudee: Indeed, it is not all that different from many of the other statistics that we get except during one of the programs where the statistics go through the roof, but it has been this way essentially since 1947-48 and someone say even before. It is what you can call encroachment, and it is an encroachment not only on land and on people, but it is encroachment on our consciousness as well. If you hear the same thing over and over every day, day after day, month after month, week after week, year after year; then, you will become accustomed to it and we have been hearing the same thing. So, what the Israelis are doing is to raise the bar, so to speak, and get the public accustomed to a new level of atrocity. Eventually, they hope to accomplish a complete ethnic cleansing of Palestine of course. Press TV: Is that mean to add to this picture, Mr. Larudee, we have this now even more rightwing governments there has been formed by Netanyahu with the justice minister, I believe, being one whose past statement have certainly not been a good reading at least. How do you feel about the prospects now even less being so for peace? Larudee: Well, peace is so remote. There is no point even talking about it. What this government might ..., according to some pundit, this government is so rightwing and so extreme that it will actually accelerate ... Israel is becoming a world pariah, if that is the case, I certainly welcome this government, because making Israel into a complete pariah, whereas a prison, you can say it is only a partially one. It is certainly long overdue and maybe we need an even more criminal government in order to accomplish that. It can't happen a minute too soon. When may we begin to see the demographic overwhelming of Israeli Jews by Israel Arabs so long promised?
