They're a factory -- an industry. As executives plan and grunts produce canned food for dogs and cats they'll never meet or give a damn about -- and other CEOS and blue collar folk produce poisin for dealing with fire ants or roaches -- government works night and day to "deal with" citizens they regard alternatively as dumb beasts or obnoxious 6-legged pests. They have no more interest in what we want or need than they do in personally interacting with us. They consider them a higher species and us demented, inbred slugs. They make and implement long-term plans of various kinds aimed solely in keeping themselves in power, loot and glory, tricking them up to appear noble and benevolent to finesse the nagging technicality that we are their consumers in another sense.
