Amazing. A self-styled "civil" libertarian who filibustered against extending the patRIOT act wants to put away the biggest fighter for online privacy and free speech. Just when I start to think he isn't all bad he does an about face and says something that makes him a total asshole. Totally schizoid. Subscribe to *libertarians*

A self-styled "civil" libertarian who filibustered against extending the patRIOT act wants to put away the biggest fighter for online privacy and free speech.

Good God, if it wasn't for Snowden, Rand wouldn't have a clue there was anything amiss.

How insane does someone have to be to equate a serial liar (Clapper) to a whistleblower who revealed the extent of unconstitutional spying by the NSA at great personal and professional expense (Snowden)?

As far as I'm concerned, this Paul guy will say or do anything to get elected.

He has no core principles and it seems to me that this whole "civil liberties" champion guise he's putting on is just a ploy to get libertarians to vote for him.

How do the GOP's 2016 hopefuls feel about Edward Snowden?

Jeb Bush

The former Florida governor is a big fan of the NSA, dubbing its surveillance programs "the best part of the Obama administration."

So it's no surprise he said last week that Snowden "is not a hero."

"He violated US law. That's why he's living large in Moscow, the land of freedom," Bush said with a hint of irony.

Chris Christie

Speaking on Fox News Wednesday, Christie, a former U.S. attorney, called Snowden a "criminal" and accused Paul and other reformers of siding with the leaker. "He's a criminal and he's hiding in Russia and he's lecturing to us about the evils of authoritarian government while he's living under the umbrella of Vladamir Putin," Christie said of Snowden.

Marco Rubio

The senator from Florida who announced his presidential campaign last month hasn't minced words on the NSA leaker, calling him a "traitor."

Rubio even chalked up Snowden's leaks as "the single most damaging revelation of American secrets in our history" in remarks last year.

Lindsey Graham

The South Carolina senator has also been blunt about Snowden.

"I don't think he's a hero. I believe he hurt our nation. He compromised our national security program designed to find out what terrorists were up to," Graham said after Snowden leaked classified documents to reporters. "I hope we'll chase him to the ends of the earth, bring him to justice."

*****

Now tell me - how can anyone call Rand Paul anything but a status-quo Republican?

Edit

Just wanted to add a few more quotes to show who Paul has aligned himself with.

*****

"Snowden is a traitor"

Leftists and neocons agree -

(Socialist Democrat) Harry Reid: “I think Snowden is a traitor.

John Boehner: “He’s a traitor.

(IRA Terrorist supporter) Rep. Peter King: “This guy is a traitor; he’s a defector.

(War Criminal and torture mastermind) Dick Cheney not only denounced Snowden as a “traitor” but also suggested that he might have shared information with the Chinese. This innuendo, as with Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction, is more proof of Cheney’s unerring determination to be cosmically wrong.

Snowden says : "Being called a traitor by Dick Cheney is the highest honor you can give an American, and the more panicked talk we hear from people like him, Feinstein, and [Rep. Peter] King, the better off we all are."

(Leftist gun-grabber and socialist) Feinstein said that Snowden had committed “an act of treason” in June after the former NSA contractor revealed he had leaked troves of classified NSA documents.

John Bolton, who forced his first wife to participate in group sex, characterized Snowden’s actions as treason, and urged against any public talk of amnesty.

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

To paraphrase Reagan, Rand turned against US.

He's no Ron.

The upside is, we'll save ourselves a lot of jack with zero campaign donations this cycle.
