BERLIN (Reuters) - German emissions of sulfur hexafluoride, the most potent of all greenhouse gases, rose 13 percent last year compared with 2013 levels, according to data from the federal statistics office published on Wednesday.

Sulfur hexafluoride emissions increased by 104 tonnes to 916 tonnes in total last year, but were still 16 percent lower than 2012, the statistics office said.

The most potent of all greenhouse gases, sulfur hexafluoride has a global warming effect some 22,800 times that of carbon dioxide (CO2) when compared over a 100-year period.

It is mainly produced in industrial processes, such as the production of electronics and apparatus.

Sulfur hexafluoride is one of the six greenhouse gases, with CO2 the most important pollutant. They are also called Kyoto gases, as they were defined in the climate pact struck in that Japanese city.

While sulfur hexafluoride emissions rose last year, the environment ministry said in March that greenhouse gas emissions dropped by 4.3 percent year-on-year to 912 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2014.

Michael Let make clear for everyone: Millions of molecules of water vapor, are making any parcel of air lighter and forces of buoyancy are lifting all gases in that parcel (including all greenhouse gases even sulfur hexafluoride) to upper troposphere. There kinetic, latent, and trapped infrared radiation of all molecules of all gases are going to space, easy, than from ocean (land) level. Properties of water are cooling the atmosphere, despite water vapor and many other gases are greenhouse gases. Real reasons for climate change: 1. In 1800 it were 1 billion of population on the earth. Today-more than 7.2 billion. To feed growing population we created 4,000,000,000 acres of fields of potato, corn, wheat, rice, etc. It reduce evaporation of water from the soil, reduce humidity in air and probabilities of rains-real cooling mechanism in nature. 2. As we are using mostly fossil fuel for our energy needs black carbon and dust from it cover fresh snow and reduce reflection back to space of direct sun radiation. WE MUST REEVALUATE DEADLY WRONG SCIENCE OF CLIMATE CHANGE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Mass media is spoiling mind of leaders in the world by mistakes promoted by this deadly wrong science.3-11

JYD "It is mainly produced in industrial processes, such as the production of electronics and apparatus." Meaning those nice "green" solar panels that you petroleum hating envirokooks so lovingly embrace. From Solar Industry Magazine: "The extremely potent greenhouse gas sulfur hexaflouride is used to clean the reactors used in silicon production." And if Germany is emitting more sulfur hexaflouride, think how much more China, which has a much worse record of pollution from their solar industry, must be emitting. "Green energy" is a myth and one day the lid will be blown off revealing how toxic, polluting, and energy intensive the solar and wind industries actually are. 9-4

Sheldorf12 Coal use declined in China in 2014. The gov't plans to spend $275 billion in the next 3 years to reduce pollution and generate 20% of its energy from renewables by 2030. China has launched carbon emissions trading covering more than 2000 sources, representing 16% of their greenhouse emissions. In Shenzhen alone, CO2 emissions fell by over 3.8 million tons in 2013 compared to 2010. That's the equivalent of burning 5 billion pounds fewer of coal. 3700 households have had new stoves installed, with a goal of 500,000 by 2017; these stoves cut carbon emisisons by 60%. In 2013, China installed more solar capacity than the US has in 6 decades. China is the world leader in wind power and has instituted new efficiency standards for refrigerators and air conditioners -4

And to think Germany was just touted in '14 or '13 as having gotten 1/3 of its energy from solar, or something like that.
