Hard to believe that the same designers came up with the hideous '58 abomination. A friend had one with the 348CID engine which was equally awful. '56 Bel-Air is the bomb, they just look right to me.

Until displacement was increased to 409. Severely underrated, it was a hot set- up and even today makes way more HP than people suspect it's capable of. the 348CID engine which was equally awful.

I'm not sure that the manufacturers of the muscle cars were completely truthful about the true BHP of their engines, in an understated way.
