Judge Quits Over Speeding Ticket Quota, Says Police Only Concerned With Revenue, Not Safety

First, it was the "Dirty Thirty," a line of four towns along a 30-mile stretch of Interstate 45 south of Dallas that issue a high volume of traffic tickets.
Now, welcome to the "Texas Triangle" – a group of small towns in Falls and Robertson counties southeast of Waco that are also in the ticket game, according to a longtime municipal court judge who said he quit over what he described as a ticketing quota system.
Revenue generated from tickets pays for a lot of small town police departments in Texas. Without ticket income, some couldn't afford a police force.
"Normally, when they pull you over for safety, they ask the 'safety' kind of questions. They ask you for insurance; they check your tags. This was none of that," said Don Shaheen, one of the thousands of Texans who got speeding tickets in April.
Instead of being concerned about safety, he said the officer just wanted to write a ticket and then get on to the next one.
"This guy just took my license, gave me a ticket, and — you know — that was pretty much it," said Shaheen, who got a ticket in Palmer.
These lying bastards will deny monthly quotas all day long.
It's just pure coincidence that they're all out on the last day of the month. (sarc)
The governments can't be as big without the additional revenues.
A whole lot of government sponsored shit that's "for our own good" is for nothing more than government largesse at one level or another, or all.
The biggies recently are 9II & The Patriot Act and its spinoffs, benefitting domestic tyranny, Obamacare, benefitting the insurance companies of which the biggest ones are subsidiaries of the big financial institutions that have gang-raped this nation for decades, and the FDA whose list of "approved" things would be a list of toxins in a truly free and honest and open society, the beneficiaries there are the biggest food corporations in the world.

The ticketed guy complaining should know that that's the ideal exchange when getting a ticket.. no questions or answers, just sign it and leave. That is to the ticketds advantage.
I was once riding in a car driven by a coworker in a small Tx town, and warned him about these tx speed traps. Within an hour sure enough he was ticketed for speeding by a podunk sheriff.
Ny friend was shocked when I played him the audio between himself and the cop, where the cop said comflicting things about when he was allegedly speeding, a school zone with no kids in it. I always have phone at the ready and record all cop interactions as policy.
Since he was from Ca I think he ended up just paying it, which is not necessary, but its easier for some.
