Self-reliance is a never-ending quest. government, home defense, privacy, safety | 15 Comments Theres something very ironic going on in America these days. The government tells us how important it is to protect our environment. Were told we need to conserve energy. Were even advised to prepare for emergencies with stockpiles of food and water. But do they really mean it? If so, why do they harass people who take the warnings seriously and do everything within their power to become independent and self-reliant? Installing solar panels and wind turbines, for example, helps protect the environment, takes pressure off a very vulnerable electrical grid and saves money. Growing your own food in a backyard garden helps you eat healthier and achieve food independence that will better prepare you for the types of emergencies they warn us against. Those are good things, right? Apparently not, according to our government. Recently, hundreds of people living on the outskirts of Los Angeles where theyve been providing their own power through solar panels and wind turbines, and growing their own food have been harassed by the authorities. Los Angeles County officials have come in, raiding homes of peaceful residents, conducting ridiculous and unannounced code inspections, and kicking some folks completely off the property that they own. So, what we have here is a group of independent, self-reliant people who do nothing to bother anyone else. These are people who just want to live their lives in peace. But no, the government doesnt like that, and so the bullies march in and destroy their lives. Why the harassment? Its like everything else in a society that becomes more Orwellian every day. Its all about government control. If youre providing your own power through solar panels and wind turbines, then youre no longer dependent upon them, and they dont like that. If youre growing your own food, then youre no longer dependent upon them for your next meal, and they dont like that either. No, we continue to do everything we are legally allowed to do to maintain independence and self-reliance. The more people who join us in this quest, the more difficult it will be for authorities to harass us. What have you done to become more independent and self-reliant? Please let our readers know.
