He was a prolific inventor that held a world record of 1093 US patents on his name, and more than 1000 patents in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. You couldn't live without it. Even the great Nicolas Tesla had been an employee of one of his companies. Edison being his mentor for future work … Edison was born in Milan, Ohio, on Feb. 11, 1847, and grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. He was the seventh and last child of Samuel Ogden Edison a jack-of-all-trades, and Nancy Matthews Elliott a former teacher. At an early age, he showed a fascination for mechanical things ,for chemical experiments and, a voracious appetite for knowledge, reading books on a wide range of subjects. In 1869, at only 22, Edison moved to New York City developing his first invention, an improved stock ticker, the Universal Stock Printer, which synchronized several stock tickers transactions. For the rights of this invention he received $40.000, money that helped him set up his first small laboratory. This was the start of his hundreds of patents, most for electrical devices, electric lighting and power. His first patent (U.S. Patent 90,646), was granted on June 1, 1869. And was followed by patents and inventions like telegraph, phonograph, electric light bulb, alkaline storage batteries and kinetograph (a camera for motion pictures), Dynamo-Electric Machine, Edison’s motors and generators and a lot more. Edison become known as "The Wizard of Menlo Park". And his life kept getting better and better. He was glowing all the way . - He had a beautiful wife and three wonderful children - His business was expanding after founding the Edison Illuminating Company - And his lab was set on producing inventions day after day like an assembly line. But all that expansion came to an end when Edison and Nikola Tesla revealed their project... It was an invention that came dangerously close to Big E's monopoly running interests. This device was able to generate power at almost no cost, and reduce the entire amount of monthly energy consumption in an excess of 75%... It was about to revolutionize energy production. But it was the opposite of what Big E. had in mind... "If you can't put a meter on it... It has to disappear!” And so it did. Tons of journals, drawings and plans...
