Uncivilized Western Civilization by Stephen Lendman So-called Western civilization should terrify everyone. It’s a monster threatening life on earth. Policy agendas pursue destructive objectives benefitting monied interests at the expense of all others - no matter how much human suffering is caused. Endless wars of aggression target independent countries threatening no one - glorified in the name of peace, supported by echo chamber media scoundrels profiting by spreading Big Lies. Mass murder is called humanitarian intervention. Western-style democracy is code language for control, plunder and exploitation. We the people ain't ordinary folks. Powerful, corrupted elites in charge want whole continents carved up for profit. They want their resources stolen, their people exploited, fundamental freedoms eliminated to crush dissent. Rule of law principles are for other nations, not superpowers and close allies. Democracies are pure fiction. Elections when held are farcical. Monied interests win every time. No wonder George Bernard Shaw once called democracy "a form of government that substitutes elections by the incompetent many for the appointment of the corrupt few." America is the world's greatest human rights abuser on a global scale. It tolerates no nation not subservient to its interests. It's the greatest threat to world peace. It directs NATO's killing machine against humanity. Partnership with Israel may kill us all. Its wish list includes unchallenged global dominance, controlling its resources, stealing its wealth, endless wars, instability and chaos, NATO operating worldwide, abolishing the middle class, and establishing ruler-serf societies unfit to live in. Any government defending its sovereignty responsibly is targeted for regime change. Russia and China bashing is all about wanting pro-Western puppets installed. Besides earlier ones, so are US post-9/11 wars on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Donbass, Yemen, partnered with Israel against Palestine, and numerous destabilization and regime change efforts against Iran, Venezuela, Ecuador, Honduras, Haiti and other countries worldwide. Greece is in the eye of the storm. Washington is involved with EU countries bullying its SYRIZA government to make endless odious debt payments - the exact opposite of sound policy. It's about: • paying bankers first at the expense of its ordinary citizens; • impoverishing them; • bankrupting the country; • preventing an essential Grexit to repair its devastated economy; • forcing it to keep selling off its crown jewels at fire sale prices; and • ultimately regime change - replacing SYRIZA with right-wing governance beholden solely to monied interests instead of its current one going part way. The only way Greece can come back from its deepening abyss is by defaulting - walking away from its odious debt entirely, renouncing it publicly, exiting the Eurozone and NATO, regaining its lost sovereignty, allying with Russia, China and other BRICS countries, reinstituting the drachma, and rebuilding its economy based on sound monetary and fiscal principles benefitting all Greek citizens equitably - no matter how much pain is endured in transition. Western nations thrive on Greek suffering - and all other countries they exploit for their own benefit, including their own populations. Austerity isn't about what Obama calls "shared sacrifice." It's about transferring maximum wealth from ordinary people with too little to rich ones already with too much. It's about impoverishing growing millions to make millionaires billionaires. It's about creating a world of endless wars, growing deprivation, and police state crackdowns on nonbelievers. It's about handing planet earth over to its super-wealthy and powerful so they can exploit everyone else for their own benefit. It's about a world unfit to live in - slowly being destroyed by rapaciousness - maybe one headed for annihilation if endless wars aren't stopped. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
