I've got mixed opinions on this, having seen the Confederate flag being a symbol of southerners with pride to being one many northerners look down their nose at with derision, likely linking it with racism and slavery. Displaying the Battle Flag is "protected speech" under the 1st Amendment. Whether SC decides to remove it from their capitol building is up to them. Whether Lady Lispy and Nikki get their way, we'll have to wait and see. I doubt that millions of individuals in the former Confederate States will stop proudly displaying their own flags, however. My flagpole lanyard has been broken for some time, no flag flying. I will get it fixed, buy a CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA flag and fly it every day, rain or shine. That is the least I can do. Off to HELL with anyone that objects.

Nothing would surprise me, considering that all the existing ex-governors got together any made a TV commercial to demand flag removal about 18 years ago including such REPUBLICAN zeroes as Carroll Campbell. The Republicons have, in fact, been the problem on this right from the start. The main perp looks and acts exactly like a Jue, too, and in typical Jue fashion he manages to accrue to himself a reputation as the C-flag's main defender in the state government -- Glenn McConnell. Oh God, I see the bastard's a college president now. At least he's not a legistraitor anymore!!!!!

That would be Libertarians for you as well. Most have no racial loyalties -- well, lots of them are really Liberalians in my HUMBLE opinion. Ron Paul at least never gave us trouble on the flag even when all the other presidential applicants were making it one of the signal moral and political issues of the universe through known history. Sanford's been good as gold all this time, at least politically. In 8 years as governor the flag was never MENTIONED, and nothing's changed except for one phenomenally over-sensationalized, extremely suspect shooting. This is all because of SC's history as -- in the gliberal mindset -- emblematic of Southern bigotry, racism, discrimination, Jim Crow etc. Never mind that the north really leads in all these things, if this happened in Chicago it would be old news already because it would be ANTIWHITE! People hate Dixie because they THINK they see in it a reflection of their own crimes, real and imagined. Projection projection projection -- keep the word in mind and it explains a hell of a lot that goes on, gang.
