Alberto Ciurana, a top executive in charge of content at the Spanish-language network Univision, is being called out for posting a juxtaposed photograph of Donald Trump and mass murder suspect Dylann Roof on Instagram. Ciurana added the words “No Comments” to the photo depicting Trump, a successful businessman and declared Republican presidential candidate, with Roof, a suspect in the Charleston church shootings that left nine people dead. The photo has been deleted from his account. Univision recently announced it would end all businesses dealings with Trump – including canceling their $13.5 million contract to air the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, which he co-owns – after Trump said in a speech announcing his candidacy that he would build “a great wall” on the southern border because Mexico is “sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.” “Completely inappropriate,” Fox News contributor Mark Thiessen told anchor Megyn Kelly after she asked him to commment on the Instagram photo. “And look, I don’t associate myself at all with what Donald Trump said about Mexicans, but for a senior executive of this network to compare him to a mass murderer? “As you pointed out… the guy who’s responsible for the content at Univision thinks it’s appropriate to send out an Instagram photo comparing a Republican presidential candidate to a white supremacist who just massacred nine people. What does that say about the culture at Univision? What does that say about the biases in the newsroom?” Thiessen asked. “Can you imagine what would happen if a senior executive at the Fox News channel sent out a picture like that with Hillary Clinton on the other side?” Kelly asked Fox MediaBuzz host Howard Kurtz, referring to what she called “a pretty vicious attack” on Trump. “Do you think any news organization would stand for Fox News hosting a presidential forum or debate?” “No, but I hope the media will rise up and say that was so beyond the pale that is it just reprehensible,” Kurtz replied. “But look, if the folks at Univision want to rip Donald Trump’s comments on Mexican immigrants being over the top and offensive, that’s their game. For the network to unilaterally break a contract to carry his beauty pageant because it doesn’t like what he said, that’s political retribution...I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t be allowed to host this presidential debate.” However, Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell disagreed, calling it “outrageous” that Univision has not disciplined Ciurana for posting the photo. Reiterating Kelly’s remarks, Bozell asked: “If an executive at Univision had done the same thing with Hillary Clinton, is there any doubt he would be fired by now?” “Univision must remove Ciurana from his current position immediately and salvage what credibility it has left,” Bozell added. “Ciurana's ‘apology’ was nothing of the sort. He must personally apologize to Mr. Trump and his family. If he cannot apologize, and Univision will not discipline, the GOP should cancel its planned presidential debate on that network.” MRC is the parent company of CNSNews.com.

So far, everything that Trump does, resonates with real, everyday, Americans. I hope that he keeps it up and stirs things up.
