A Florida teacher’s aide brought strawberry lubricant to a movie theater in hopes of having sex with her “crush” — a fifth-grade boy, investigators said. Lakeland cops set up a sting and arrested Alecia Dotson on Tuesday after investigators discovered more than 100 sexually graphic texts between her and the 11-year-old student she called “love bug.” Dotson — a 45-year-old teacher’s aide at Highland Grove Elementary School, where the boy just finished fifth grade — told police she was first a “mentor” to the boy, but later developed a “crush” on him. She was booked on attempted sexual battery, child solicitation and related charges, WTSP reported. The boy’s mom first caught wind of the inappropriate relationship Sunday. Dotson had texted the boy asking if she could pick him up and take him to the library, but when his mom scrolled through older texts from the school year, she found dozens of graphic and sexually explicit messages, police said. The mom called the cops. Dotson sent the boy another text while officers were at the family’s home. “Love bug what are you doing,” it read. “I'll be sure to tell her we won't have sex on the first visit…LOL.” Police seized the boy’s phone. On Tuesday, Dotson sent another text: “Are you awake love bug?” Pretending to be the 11-year-old, the cops texted back and set up a rendezvous with Dotson. The woman believed she’d meet up with the boy at a Lakeland mall movie theater to have sex, investigators said. Before she got to the theater, Dotson stopped at the Spencer’s in the mall and picked up a bottle of strawberry warming lubricant, police said. Cops arrested Dotson when she showed up at the cinema as planned. She told investigators her “romantic relationship” with the boy started about three weeks ago. She was first a “mentor” to the fifth-grader during the school year, but slowly developed a “crush” on him, which eventually progressed into the relationship, she explained. Dotson faces a slew of charges: two counts of attempted sexual battery on a child under 12, using a computer to solicit a child, traveling to meet a minor and unlawful use of communications.
