A woman of genuine integrity. Very, very rare. God Bless Her!!

'I feel I’m a slave now because the federal government does control me,' Cooper said.

A black woman who proudly waves the Confederate battle flag because it “represents freedom” also believes that “slavery was a choice” — because slaves had the choice to die.

In a new interview, Virginia resident Karen Cooper explained why she joined the Virginia Flaggers, a group that defends the rebel flag against those who “worship ignorance, historical revisionism and political correctness.”

Cooper, who found the flagging group through her activism in the Tea Party, explained the Confederate flag symbolizes a movement away from big government.

“I actually think that it represents freedom,” she said in an interview for “Battle Flag,” a documentary project about the flag. “It represents a people who stood up to tyranny.”

BREE NEWSOME SAYS ENOUGH WITH S.C. CAPITOL CONFEDERATE FLAG

The interview comes amid a national discussion about the flag’s meaning — and vocal calls to remove it from government buildings after a rebel flag-supporter shot and killed nine people in a historical black church.

Cooper, a New York native who later settled in Virginia, brushed off the flag’s history in slavery, explaining that oppression is not exclusive to the Confederate.

“I’m not advocating slavery or think that it was right. It wasn’t and none of my friends think it was. It was just something that happened. It didn’t just happen in the South — it happened worldwide.”

Besides, “slavery was a choice,” she added, because slaves had a choice to die.

“And I say that because of what Patrick Henry said: ‘Give me liberty, or give me death.’ If we went back to that kind of slavery — no I couldn’t do it. Give me death,” she explained.

If anything, slavery is still alive today, she claimed.

HAROLD HOLZER: THEN AND NOW, THAT FLAG MEANS TREASON

“I feel I’m a slave now because the federal government does control me. I can’t smoke what I want to smoke. I can’t drink what I want to drink. If I want to put something into my body, it’s my body, not theirs,” she said. “That’s tyranny!”

So Cooper will keep waving the Confederate flag alongside other Virginia Flaggers and will keep preaching the group’s mission to peacefully “protest those who have attacked us, our flags, our ancestors or our heritage.”

“I know what people think about when they see the battle flag: the KKK, racism, bringing slavery back. So I knew it would be something for people to see a black woman with the battle flag,” she said.

“How can it be racist if I’m out there with them?” she added. (2 images)

The confederate flag as we think of it nationally was a battle flag, nothing more.

Depending upon whether or not one has drunk the koolaid the reasons for the CW were not even about slavery initially. It was only brought in as a political issue to further the cause of the Union.

People bitch about the Confederate flag, but the current US Flag may as well be a flag with an upside down cross on it. Then put it next to the Israeli flag and we have a perfect Left/Right behind-the-desk set for American politician photo ops.

The amount of fuss over a piece of cloth, as if it in and of itself causes anyone any malady today, is insane.

Yet, most Americans, propagandized "news" addicted junkies with nothing better to do in life than to waste their time willingly imbibing that mental crap,

Then, like the Pavlov's dogs that they've voluntarily become, the pick from the two options offered them on the brainless mindless shit coming out of the propaganda outlets, always boolean in nature despite the fact that the issues are really far more open ended and at minimum on some kind of continuum, and then form sides & teams and combat each other leaving the people that they complain about unscathed and laughing at them.

The perfect racket.

Next up: Americans accepting the debt that political pigs racked up as their own.

A currency is worth only as much as the government that prints it.

A flag is worth only as much as the people of the nation it represents.

Both the US currency and US flag are practically worthless in terms of purchasing power or national integrity or sovereignty.

Why is this? It is because both our currency and our sovereignty no longer belong to the American people.

it “represents freedom” also believes that “slavery was a choice” — because slaves had the choice to die.

Hurrah for her but I don't get that part. Slaves were treated much better than most people have any idea in Dixie -- they were paid wages and could buy their freedom. Maybe they can educate her the rest of the way.

It has been said that another thousand years will pass, and the Black Man will always accuse the White Man of 'enslaving' him.

It should be noted that MOST of the slaves that came to the United States were sold into slavery were either the relatives or warring (Negro) tribes of Negros.

So... if you look at it, as far as the numbers of slaves that came into the United States were provided by . .. BLACK NEGROS.

If you REALLY want to see what REAL slavery is all about, sometime look at this video. The Muslims have GOT IT DOWN TO A SCIENCE ..

Both the US currency and US flag are practically worthless in terms of purchasing power or national integrity or sovereignty.

My point all along has been that the current US Flag should conjure up more images of slavery than the Confederate battle flag should.

Not to mention that the Emancipation Proclamation only included southern slaves, which means that technically the Union freed its slaves after the Confederate states did.

Technically correct, and important observations.

There was NOTHING noble about 'The Union.'

Ulysses Grant was the first president after the Civil War. He was notorious for corruption, with graft and nepotism deeply engrained in his army of 'carpet baggers.' His immediate relatives were given most of the ultra-lucrative contracts to build the largest railroads leading to the virgin West.

There certainly is nothing 'holy' about the republican party. They were especially corrupt and ruthless in the South after the Civil War. To the victor goes the prize.
