Regarding Roof's alleged friend with the Yankee accent at 3:38 of the video at Post #2. There are 3 words written on the sleeveless, red t-shirt he's wearing. The last word was a British-dubbed nickname of the Brigadier General, Thomas Sumter (for whom Fort Sumter is named), because he was a formidable fighter: Sumter acquired the nickname, "Carolina Gamecock," during the American Revolution for his fierce fighting tactics [and retaliatory attack on British soldiers who had destroyed his house]. Thomas Sumter (August 14, 1734 – June 1, 1832) was a soldier in the Colony of Virginia militia; a brigadier general in the South Carolina militia during the American War of Independence, and a planter and a politician. After the United States gained independence, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives and to the United States Senate, where he served from 1801 to 1810, when he retired.

The Storm Flag, still standing when [U.S. Major] Anderson surrendered, was taken to New York with the rest of Anderson’s men. Soon after the surrender, the flag went on a national tour to drum up support for Union forces. On that tour, the flag began to fade, and a face appeared just to the right of the center star.
[U.S. Major] Anderson brought the flag to New York City for an April 20, 1861 patriotic rally, where it was flown from the equestrian statue of George Washington. More than 100,000 people thronged Manhattan's Union Square in what was, by some accounts, the largest public gathering in the country up to that time. The flag was then taken from town to town, city to city throughout the North, where it was frequently "auctioned" to raise funds for the war effort. Any patriotic citizen who won the flag at auction was expected to immediately donate it back to the nation, and it would promptly be taken to the next rally to repeat its fundraising magic.
[U.S. Major] Anderson carried the [U.S.] Fort Sumter [Storm] Flag with him North, where it became a widely known symbol of the battle, and rallying point for supporters of the Union.
