"CNN's Headline News has signed conservative radio host Glenn Beck for an hourlong talkshow in hopes of building on the ratings momentum generated by a revamped primetime lineup anchored by 'Nancy Grace,'" Variety's Michael Learmonth scoops. The announcement will be made today.
"Glenn Beck is the next piece of the puzzle," Ken Jautz says. "Glenn's style is self-deprecating, cordial; he says he'd like to be able to disagree with guests and part as friends. It's conversational, not confrontational."
Strangely enough, "a timeslot has not been set" for the new program, which will premiere in April. "Jautz said any of the existing shows could be shuffled to accommodate Beck but none will be cancelled."

Humm . . . I think that Bush and the neocons haven't been able to gain much traction according to the polls. I figured that something was up when they pulled Cheney out of his bunker and sent him on the road. Then, they put the first "lady" (as dumb and dull as the guy she married, IMO) out there to support the fascist police state agenda. I suppose that we shouldn't be too surprised that the corporate media has been order to the front also. Richard W.

I find that woman so painful to look at, that I rarely even follow whatever it is she is doing or saying. She isn't much more than an echo chamber anyway. No one is going to deviate from the neocon fear and war mongering script. Richard W.

The caller said his preferred methods of torture included burning the retinas of prisoners' eyes with high-powered halogen lamps and blowing out prisoners' eardrums with high-pressure water and air. He also claimed to have known "a contractor that did drilling on live teeth." After hearing the caller describe these torture techniques, Beck responded, "I've got to tell you, I appreciate your service." During the interview, Beck asked the caller if he ever had trouble sleeping at night. When the caller answered, "No," Beck responded, "Good for you." He later added, "[W]hen all is said and done, I'm glad people like you are on our side."
