Time analysis compiled by a university political researcher finds frontrunner Donald Trump dominated last night’s Republican presidential debate, that is, if you don’t count the moderators.

Fox News debate moderators allowed Trump speak the most of all the candidates, clocking in at 10 minutes, 32 seconds of air time.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush — stationed in the #2 podium due to his polling — came in a relative distant second, with 8 minutes 31 seconds.

The third-highest polling candidate — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker — came in 9th place, being heard just over half of Trump’s time.

All told, the 10 candidates at the 9pm debate spoke “a total of one hour, eight minutes, and 49 seconds …”

According to Smart Politics, “an equal distribution of speaking time would have been six minutes and 52 seconds per candidate.”

Dr. Eric J. Ostermeier, research associate at the Humphrey School’s Center for the Study of Politics and Governance at the University of Minnesota, created this breakdown:

According to Ostermeier, Walker’s relative lack of air time was his own doing. He “gave responses of less than 40 seconds six times and never exceeded 48 seconds for any of his remarks.”

The analysis notes Fox moderators Chris Wallace, Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier spoke for 31 minutes and 53 seconds of the roughly two-hour broadcast, or 31.7% of the time.

  I thought Kelly’s ridiculously loaded question about Trump’s Twitter war with Rosie Odonnell somehow reflecting poor treatment of women by Trump, was completely dishonest.

  The moderators were horrible. Megyn Kelly’s disdain for Trump, coupled with her own narcissistic tendencies set the stage for her immature, unprofessional attacks. Chris Wallace is a complete liberal and it always shows, with him doing all but throwing a toddler tantrum trying to get the candidates to fight with each other over stupid topics. And Bret Baier’s opening question, a pathetically veiled gimmick to get Trump say he’d run as a third party candidate was ridiculous. Fox should be ashamed, and these moderators should be banned from future debates. Where is Brit Hume? Why not bring in a professional, intelligent moderator rather than going with these hacks?

  Did not watch most of debate. Rand Paul is despised by Fox News, clearly. This shows the Rupert Murdoch/Roger Ailes line-up. They want Trump for entertainment value, Jeb Bush as establishment favorite and Huckabee to show favor to a former FOX employee.

  Have always respected M.Kelly but I thought she was a might “snarky” last night. As for the time that the moderators took up; there is no doubt it was too much about them and not the candidates. From the very beginning I kept asking, “Who cares, get to the questions, get to the candidates.

  It may be wrong but I can’t stand Kelly’s voice after watching her show a couple times seeing her literally spin stories and edit video she has become the Fox News Mika nice to look at but the moment she opens her mouth all the beauty in the world can’t make her attractive.

Oh, YUMMY -- thank you, Happ!!! It's Christmas in August! To know that others (those commenters) see Kegyn Melly as I do after last night, makes life bearable again for a short spell.

I know I'm prone to superlatives and all-time milestones, but some of them happen to be real -- and I'll venture to say that Kegyn's opener last night was one of THE MOST purely BANAL, TRITE, MUNDANE, KITSCH-FILLED moments in politics this century so far, considering what a breath of fresh air Strump is and all the actual good work Kegyn had been doing.
