I used to have a book "The Golden Turkey Awards" (the second in a trilogy about bad movies). Lewis' film won the award for "The Worst Film You Never Saw". The book was co-written by Michael Medved (with his brother Harry), who later went on to be a neocon radio host.
Well! Medved's one of the most intolerably Jewmaniacal media mavens out there.
Yet I would not treat his derision of the film as meaning that the film is actually good.
Oh, for sure. For a bad person to call something bad good is merely window dressing, the "bait" part whereby he suckers people into the "switch" -- his brand of totally Izrulocentric cuxervatism!
Sometimes we should judge stuff on its own merit and not let the Medveds of the world define the limits of our thought.
I don't think anybody around here is doing that. Say, anybody want to hate Medved with me? Poster boy cover boy golden kosher fig leaf to the Christian right who're petrified of being called "anti-semitic" for rightly decrying the state of movies and TV, etc.
I know, but where else am I going to go at this time of night to find material to play off?
What are you on, Dak old pal? I'm savoring a Milwaukee's Best Light -- it was cheapest at like 4.2c/oz., adds extra flavor.
