Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul on Monday made clear that his new strategy to attack Donald Trump — unveiled last week at the first televised debate among Republican presidential hopefuls — is a message he plans to stick with.

“It amazes me that anyone in the Tea Party movement could possibly consider Clinton/Reid/Pelosi supporter Donald Trump for President,” Paul said in a three-page statement blasting the Republican frontrunner.

Monday afternoon after speaking to veterans at American Legion Post 23 in Bowling Green, Paul repeated his criticism of Trump in a brief question-and-answer session with reporters.

“People have to wonder whether these new found beliefs of Donald Trump are real or just part of his reality show,” Paul said.

Paul’s presidential campaign is widely regarded to have stalled in recent months. His campaign fundraising has been modest. His standing in national polls shows he’s dipping and is stuck somewhere in the middle of a 17-candidate field.

Paul shrugged off the suggestion that he went on the attack against Trump because his own campaign had stalled. “The debates came forward, and I think it’s time to mix it up and show differences,” Paul said.

Just a few weeks ago, Paul resisted criticizing Trump for controversial remarks toward Mexican immigrants and Arizona Sen. John McCain’s war record.

But during Thursday’s first televised debate among the top 10 Republican contenders, Paul reversed that approach by twice interrupting Trump.

On Monday, Paul’s statement called Trump a “fake conservative.”

Paul needs to get a much better hair-consultant; he looks pathetic and dopey.

Swell, the RINO's are co-opting the TEA Party in order to denigrate Donald Trump. Smells like desperation to me......

Everyone seems scared spitless of Trump.

I love it.
