I'm sitting in the repair shop lobby waiting for a simple fan clutch repair.....two water pump bolts snapped off and a closer examination revealed that it was about to fail (leak). So.....new water pump, belt, fan clutch, coolant change. Shit.

Better to find it out now than on the road?

Mobil 1 FTW!!! I'm aiming for 500,000 miles before I need to put another bullet under the hood.

I'm glad to see a purely personal, linkless page here. In lots of my places, bluenoses swoop down and put the kibosh on anything putatively off-topic. Understand the reasons, but hate that.

Damage to the tune of only $361.00 I was there until noon, shop owner only charged me 2.5 hrs labor after I walked across the street and bought them some pigs-in-a-blanket at the donut shop :) They race dirt track cars and are excellent mechanics, they always take care of my truck on the maintenance/repairs that I can't perform.

That is good deal. A coolant change alone, at a dealer, is something like $125. That's why I don't go to dealers except for some parts - coolant and oil filters and plugs for example. I have shade tree mechanic I trust who's been doing it for decades for a living...cash on the barrel.

Great return on your snack investment.

Good deal all-way round.
