Donald Trump has taken the political world by storm and become the clear front runner in the 2016 GOP presidential race but he has had a difficult time distancing himself from his very liberal past. You name the liberal position and Trump supported it. Partial birth abortion. Universal healthcare. High taxes on the rich. He has managed to get by with the excuse that he “used to be” a liberal and that even Ronald Reagan started out as a Democrat. However, the hits just keep coming and according to a recent report, Donald Trump has a long and extensive history both associating with and donating to causes championed by notorious race hustler, Al Sharpton. From Newsmax via National Review: They are bitter political rivals today, but GOP front-runner Donald Trump once donated thousands of dollars to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Youth Movement and did personal favors for him, National Review reports. The website quoted a source close to Sharpton as saying that Trump gave Sharpton “anywhere between $20,000 and $150,000" for his National Youth Movement, which became the National Action Network, and for his activism. Sharpton told National Review he never received any financial support from Trump, though other sources said Trump continued helping Sharpton even through the Tawana Brawley case and a 67-count indictment that he used his organization’s funding for personal use. In case you aren’t very familiar with Al Sharpton’s work, here’s a little taste. Want more? Ok here you go. Ok, one more just for fun. I could go on and on but you get the picture. Al Sharpton is not only a political hack, he is a really really bad guy. The previously mentioned Tawana Brawley rape case that Donald Trump allegedly helped Sharpton get through was one of the most racially divisive court cases in the last few decades. Eager to make a name for himself, Sharpton helped publicize the case of a young black woman who claimed she was kidnapped and raped by four white attackers. The case eventually fell apart and was dismissed as completely false. Sharpton has made news over the past year by inserting himself into the awful race riots that have taken place, most notably in Ferguson. He helped the “Hand’s Up, Don’t Shoot” myth spread like wildfire and has become the most well known race-baiter in the country. Oh, and he owes the IRS millions of dollars in unpaid taxes.
