12 questions. One on each of 12 pages.

You answered 12 of 12 questions correctly. You scored better than 94% of the public and the same as 6%.

The average white passed. Hispanics passed but not as well as whites. Blacks failed. People in their 50s scored better than people in their 20s.

Not all 12 were science questions. Astrology is not a science. And, who invented the polio vaccine is a history question; not a science question. For example, how transistors work is science. The names of two people working for Bell labs that invented the transistor is a history question. And, regardless of how good you are at science, you probably don't know their names. Someone not good at science but who excels and trivia might know their names.

All the actual science questions were extremely simple and all would be answered correctly by almost 100% of all engineers, chemists, and physicists. I suppose, it is possible that a chemist might not have been exposed to the definition of a light year in any of their courses; but, even if not, their extensive association with engineering students would be enough for them to have learned.

No it's not, but knowing what Astrology is, is not the same as being an Astrology expert.

That one I did not know, but I knew the fields of the other 3 didn't have anything to do with vaccines, which science people pretty much know. And of course Newton was well before vaccines were invented. But yes, you're right.

The loudness volume I had to think on a little bit. To me that was hardest, I think. But I got them all.

I struggled for a second on loudness, then I equated amplitude with amplifier : )

I knew frequency determined the pitch, and wavelength was the same as frequency. "Velocity" made no sense at all as the speed of sound is basically constant at a given air density. Amplitude measures the change in sound pressure from peak to trough, which seemed a reasonable measure of loudness.
