12 questions. One on each of 12 pages.

You answered 12 of 12 questions correctly. You scored better than 94% of the public and the same as 6%.

The average white passed. Hispanics passed but not as well as whites. Blacks failed. People in their 50s scored better than people in their 20s.

Same here. Thought it was a trick question, like which weighs more, a pound of rocks or a pound of feathers.

That's what pressure cookers are all about. The boiling point of a liquid rises as the vapor pressure rises.

Also, at higher elevations, you have to cook everything longer.

Not all 12 were science questions. Astrology is not a science. And, who invented the polio vaccine is a history question; not a science question. For example, how transistors work is science. The names of two people working for Bell labs that invented the transistor is a history question. And, regardless of how good you are at science, you probably don't know their names. Someone not good at science but who excels and trivia might know their names.

All the actual science questions were extremely simple and all would be answered correctly by almost 100% of all engineers, chemists, and physicists. I suppose, it is possible that a chemist might not have been exposed to the definition of a light year in any of their courses; but, even if not, their extensive association with engineering students would be enough for them to have learned.

I missed that one and this one--The loudness of a sound is determined by what property of a sound wave?

I had no idea what the answer was.

C - I was reaching back 60 years out my ass to guess as well as I did. Who knows about the property of sound that determines its loudness.

The correct answer is the size of the round fired.

No it's not, but knowing what Astrology is, is not the same as being an Astrology expert.

And, who invented the polio vaccine is a history question; not a science question.

That one I did not know, but I knew the fields of the other 3 didn't have anything to do with vaccines, which science people pretty much know. And of course Newton was well before vaccines were invented. But yes, you're right.

All the actual science questions were extremely simple and all would be answered correctly by almost 100% of all engineers, chemists, and physicists.

I struggled for a second on loudness, then I equated amplitude with amplifier : )

I knew frequency determined the pitch, and wavelength was the same as frequency. "Velocity" made no sense at all as the speed of sound is basically constant at a given air density. Amplitude measures the change in sound pressure from peak to trough, which seemed a reasonable measure of loudness.

I was in high school when the the polio announcement was made to the entire school; it was a very big deal so I didn't need the logical process of elimination.

You might guess frequency since no sound would be heard if above the human hearing range. And, I suspect at the same amplitude, higher frequency would have more energy per second. At least, I believe, that is how it is with light and much higher frequency waves so the principal is likely to be the same.

Nice try, Rumsfeld, but how is it that only negroes wind up unable to solve basic Q&A format tests which even little children from the poorest Mexican village can figure out after a couple years of school?

Granted, cannabis makes everyone who uses it a little duller. But blaming pot on these gents inability to internalize simple facts, math, and ... sentience makes it seem like you have an agenda. :)

No question, they are dopers. I wouldn't be shocked if they smelled of malt liquor, either. I still maintain that being buzzed doesn't make one rock stupid, but there is a huge amount of evidence that a room temperature IQ does.
