See here is what i am talking about when i speak on bad propaganda. Right now on drudge a photo is featured of the Europeans protesting the syrian refugees. IN ENGLISH So what you have is a bunch euros that dont speak english telling a bunch of syrains that dont speak english to. "Go home" in english...... Why would anyone believe that sort of reporting is legit? It's. Not logical. It makes no sense.

Over the past seventy years, "GO HOME" has become an international phrase as well known as OK or CocaCola, and many other less refined terms of expression.

Lose no sleep; it makes complete sense.

Go home is not a corporate logo like pepsi or coke a cola. English is not the mother tounge of Czechoslovakia nor is it the mother tounge of syria.

Sigh....

Peoe think 911 is an inside job but still trust the same propaganda matrix that produce it...

Makes no sense to me.

English is used round the world.

Maritime and aviation worldwide use English.

That's right. Any time protesters expect camera coverage, they're going to have signs in English.

Not necessarily so.

And Yankee, or Yanqui, Go Home have been seen around the globe forever it seems.

I saw a Nigerian bitching at a German cop with his drug sniffing dog in a YouTube vid taken in Hamburg.

The African was bitching in English, and the cop was bitching back - in English.

With the proliferation of all the various social media out there, I'd guess that English would be more and more prevalent as the language of choice. It already is the language of choice for proper cursing. Nothing else comes close.

"The Story of English" dramatically surveyed how English has become the global language, and that was produced way back in 1986. The abovementioned Nig(g)erian woman was yammering in English because it's the main language spoken in much of Africa.

English is quite popular throughout Europe and the Middle East. I have a lot of family in Germany and just about all of them (except a few of the oldsters) have enough English to make non-German speaking guests at home.

Titorite mentioned Czechoslovakia (which no longer exists as a single country BTW). English is quite prevalent as a language to do business in in an area where Germanic, Slavic, Romance and Finno-Ugric tongues would otherwise compete to be heard.

As far as Arab countries go, English is THE second language, with the possible exception of Lebanon with its Francophone heritage in places. You can dependably get a meal, a bed and a ticket out of town in most Arab cities with a knowledge of English.

And as Cyni notes, knowledge of English is required in international navigation and there are well-developed standards for Maritime and Aviation English.

Even back in the 80s traveling to Europe, MX, and the Caribbean, we had little to no problem communicating in English; those people know the value of tourist money and snapped to on their English proficiency.

I have to believe that it's just gotten better over the last thirty years.
