"In the push to develop the tourism industry, bathrooms are part of the revolution," the governor of Guangdong, Zhu Xiaoping, said in his comments for this year's China International Tourism Industry Expo. The expo, hosted in Guangzhou from Sept. 10-13, has seen a flood of visitors to its displays of the latest luxury models in everything from recreational vehicles to yachts. Bathrooms had a place as an essential component for the developing industry, the local Yangcheng Evening News reported. One bathroom model was of particular note: a Shanghai-based company and its newest "mobile 3D-printed bathroom" with a geometrical design and a spacious interior. A representative at the expo said the bathroom was produced using unique assembly technology and is both highly flexible and resistant to wear. It expands to 60 square meters after assembly, has 10 toilet seats and can be transported on a truck with a bed 17.5 meters long. This makes it of particular value for popular tourist destinations which attract large volumes of tourists during national holidays. A mobile bathroom could roll in and provide relief for desperate tourists within minutes, the report said. Part of the bathroom was manufactured using 3D printing and although it costs about the same to produce as an average bathroom, the 3D version is highly mobile and equipped with advanced computer monitoring systems. It has sensors that detect the number of occupants, water usage and the amount of waste expelled. In addition, all of its facilities are monitored through a central computer system, the report said. Bathrooms are a measure of the quality of the public services offered in a particular region, according to one of the expo's organizers. The expo's section for Foshan, a major manufacturing hub in the province, laid out clean and sparkling "tourist bathrooms" that caught the eye of governor Zhu and vice governor Zhao Yufang during their tour. Within the Foshan exhibit, the bathroom on display by Changlu resort in Foshan, classified as a national 5A tourist site on a par with, for example, the Palace Museum in Beijing, is in a class of its own. The floor of the bathroom resembles a forest path complete with real grass and flowers. According to one of the staff members, the bathroom does not require any artificial air fresheners, relying on the natural fragrance of the flowers to keep the bathroom smelling fresh and clean. Over 3,000 tourism companies and 5,000 industry professionals are attending this year's expo. Organizers expect visitor numbers to exceed 500,000, according to the repor Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
