The word "antibiotic" literally means "against life". Antibiotics can kill many different bacteria, NOT only the bacteria causing your infection. Diarrhea is a common side-effect of losing too many of your good or healthy bacteria inside your bowels. Antibiotics and Your Immune System Did you know that 60% of your immune system is located in your intestines ? It is crucial that you take care of your intestinal health. Otherwise, you'll be much more prone to recurring MRSA and Staph infections. Unfortunately, antibiotics can be toxic to other parts of your body as well. The longer you use them, the longer your body will work hard at trying to remove them. This taxes your liver and other cleansing systems. Antibiotics also can cause allergic reactions, organ dysfunction, stomach pains, and overgrowth of non-desirable bacteria and fungus (like Candida) in your body. And, as you'll learn in Chapter 5, the formation of stealth or L-form bacteria that go into hiding in your body is a concern with many antibiotics. Antibiotics and Cancer According to recent studies, there appears to be a definite link for people who've taken larger amounts of antibiotics over longer periods of time having a much greater chance for cancer. Where to Start There are 3 Steps for stopping MRSA and Staph. Addressing side-effects from antibiotics is part of Step 2 in Chapter 13 of your book . Step 2 is very important after your immediate infection is under control. Antibiotics may be necessary and life-saving, but it is because of toxic and immune-suppressing side-effects that you want to limit your exposure to these drugs as much as possible. If you are on antibiotics or have been, you'll want to check out Chapter 12 in MRSA Secrets Revealed on how to reduce the side effects. Probiotics - the "Good Guys" Probiotics are one of the most important remedies for counteracting antibiotic side-effects . Probiotic literally means "for life". Probiotics are "good" bacteria that you eat and they will put the "good guys" back into your digestive system that the antibiotics killed. How to find probiotics and what to look for when buying one are covered in detail in Chapter 9 of your book. If you are currently taking antibiotics, take the probiotic at least 2 hours before or after your antibiotic. Check with your doctor if you have any questions about using probiotics. Additionally, if you've had stomach upset with using antibiotics, try some ginger. You can eat some fresh, make some tea with it, or take ginger capsules that are available at many stores. This is in Chapter 12 of your book. For your best success with Staph and MRSA, be sure to replenish your body's good bacteria by using a quality probiotic every day.
