'We are racing to judgment'

America is inviting God’s judgment on itself just as ancient Israel did, according to Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, author of several books and inspiration behind the “Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” movie.

The Bible teacher and bestselling author delivered this warning on the main stage at the 2015 Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C. Saturday afternoon. He began by reminding the audience ancient Israel was founded by God and consecrated to God, but eventually turned away from God.

“They began driving him out of their lives, out of their culture,” Cahn declared. “They called their sins good and they called what was good evil.”

The Israelites ignored prophets’ warnings to turn back to God, and soon they were wiped off the face of the Earth.

Many years later, according to Cahn, there was another civilization dedicated to the glory and purposes of God – the United States of America, founded to be “a city on a hill.” Cahn said the U.S. became the most blessed nation on Earth, but now it is following the same path ancient Israel trod before its fall.

“As did ancient Israel, we have also driven God out of the culture, out of our public square, out of our schools, out of our courts, out of the lives of our children,” the rabbi declared.

He said the U.S. has promoted immorality, created false idols, and killed its most innocent citizens, just as ancient Israel did. But he reminded the crowd it was not too long ago American children were taught Christian values in public schools and newspapers printed pastors' sermons.

"What happened to that America?" Cahn asked. "The same thing that happened to Israel, except on a greater scale."

The rabbi said the Supreme Court struck down God's own order when it declared same-sex marriage a constitutional right in June. Cahn also condemned the LGBT movement for using the rainbow as its symbol when the rainbow was originally a sign of God's promise to Noah.

"To take that sign and use it to celebrate the first desecration is a second desecration," he said.

He added that when the White House lit up in rainbow colors on the night of the court's gay marriage ruling, that was a third desecration. Cahn sees it as an arrogant declaration that America is choosing to live by its own ways, not God's ways.

And if a nation judges the ways of God, he asked, how can God not judge that nation?

Cahn also lambasted the U.S. for murdering millions in the womb through abortion. He referenced the undercover videos that showed Planned Parenthood officials trafficking in baby parts for money.

"If that's not an indictment of a civilization, nothing is," the rabbi declared.

The U.S. has also turned to false idols, according to Cahn. He showed the audience a picture of the Empire State Building, on a night last August, lit up with the image of the Hindu goddess Kali.

And just as the true prophets in ancient Israel were imprisoned, Cahn said, Kim Davis was imprisoned earlier this month for failing to desecrate God's holy vessel of marriage.

"We are racing to judgment, and I believe a great shaking is coming," the rabbi concluded.

However, Cahn assured the audience America is not without hope. He pointed out in the late 1970s, America was in a low place, with a sluggish economy and shattered prestige around the world. But then believers gathered together on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol to pray for the release of America's hostages in Iran and for a leader who would do God's will. Months later, Ronald Reagan was swept into office and began to restore America.

"God was answering the prayers of His people," Cahn declared. "It's not that prayers have to follow [elections], elections can actually follow prayers. The hand of God is greater than all powers, than all problems."

Cahn said today's America seems even bleaker than it did in the late 1970s, but with God, anything is possible. God's people just need to humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, as stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14.

"The answer is not going to come from the Supreme Court or the Capitol or the White House or Wall Street. The answer may involve all those things, but the answer is only going to come from the God of America's foundation."

The rabbi exhorted the crowd to stand firm and follow the ways of God.

"We are now living in the days of Jeremiah and Ezekiel and Elijah," he said. "A prophetic day requires a prophetic people."

Cahn urged the audience to be the prophetic people America needs. He ended with a rousing message of hope that drew cheers.

"No matter how great the odds, no matter how imposing the opposition, no matter how formidable the challenge, if you stand for God, if you hold to what is true, if you fight the good fight, remember this: you are on the winning side."
