The Pentagon was trying to bomb 10 - 15 "terrorists" but ended up also killing 12 medics and 9 patients, including several children who are now dead. Beyond the dead, 37 people were seriously wounded, according to press reports. According to Sky News, "The US military later admitted it carried out airstrikes 'in the vicinity' of the hospital, and was targeting Taliban fighters firing at American soldiers." It said they "may have resulted in collateral damage to a nearby medical facility" but details were still not clear... The first bomb landed at 2.10am - and nine minutes later, MSF staff rang NATO's offices in Kabul and military officials in Washington. Despite this, the bombing continued until 3.13am. The phrase "may have resulted in collateral damage" is Pentagon doublespeak for "We bombed the crap out of that hospital!" According to RT.com: An air strike on a hospital in the Afghan city of Kunduz that killed at least 19 people is "utterly tragic, inexcusable, and possibly even criminal," said the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, calling for a transparent investigation. According to Sky News, "The Afghan Interior Ministry said 105 patients, 80 staff and about a dozen Taliban militants were in the hospital when it was struck." A spokesman told Sky News, "All of the terrorists were killed, but we also lost doctors." That makes me wonder if the Pentagon will consider this bombing a "success" because it eliminated a dozen "terrorists" that it claims were hiding in the hospital. US bombs civilian targets, then gets paid to rebuild them It's perfectly clear from the reports that the United States deliberately targeted the hospital and accurately destroyed its intended target. It's also clear that the U.S. military has a long and deeply disturbing history of destroying the wrong targets and sometimes bombing civilian buildings or infrastructure (so that U.S. corporations can win the lucrative contracts to rebuild that infrastructure using World Bank loan money). War is a racket, and the first casualty of war is the truth. Today, Doctors Without Borders needs 12 new doctors, and Afghanistan needs a new hospital. No doubt they're bombing schools, grocery stores, everything but the embedded media don't report it. This govt is chasing down every known standard of conduct, smashing it and throwing it in the face of humanity. Bombing a hospital is pure Jue-driven hubris. That's bad enough but they're actually defending it!?!??!!!!! Everything they do is to send a message as much as anything else. The message here is "chasing terr'ists is our noble, all-amerikan goal -- and NOTHING is sacred anymore for the duration!" Supposedly to fight terrorism, we've become much worse than terr'ists -- a terror nation. At least most terr'ists are doing it for some passably sane political goal -- DC does it for sheer Jack the Ripper bloodlust. Wish I could find the colyum this is from: Oh -- it just got even worse. Could well be that Taliban provoked the US attack with a false flag tip or even firing from the hospital area. If the scurrilous Jew neocons could initiate the attack on Afghanistan with the ridiculous assertion that Taliban patriot bin Laden did 9/11 then they could use similar false flags to bring US into international disrepute to bring pressure on ending this crazy war for Israel. Who knows?
