An amusing story out of Indianapolis Indiana explains how 46 year old Karen Dolley woke at midnight to find a strange man in her living room. she sprang into action and punched him ten times, and then reached for her gun but couldn't find it. so she grabbed her ninjato and kept 30-year-old Jacob Wessel, who is 5'10", at bay cowered in the corner until cops arrived. Wessel, reported high on an unknown substance, was later "charged with residential entry, a Level 6 felony."
Ms. Dolley reportedly learned to fight as a young lady at The Society for Creative Anachronism. The groups' website states that they are "an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 20 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more."
