If you want to really see what a man is made of, take away all his earthly possessions and see if he is still the same man. By that I mean, a man is not what he owns, it is who he is.

You are correct. I work with a kid that is disabled. By that I mean that he ca cannot walk straight, and his hands are messed up. He can only use one hand si since the other he is unable to grasp things.

He asked me if I thought he could work "concert security". I told him that even if he could walk straight, and his hands were not messed up, he was not tough enough to do it. Hated to burst his bubble, but the truth is just that. ;)

Good story, thanks for sharing. I'm afraid I would wind up going to prison if I had that job.

What I was talking about though is how man 'measures' another man based on his material worth. And man, whether consciously or subconsciously, measures himself by the value of his net worth and belongings.

More stuff = more self actualization on man's value scale.

I know a few very wealthy people who would probably wake up and commit suicide if their wealth was suddenly taken from them because THAT is who they are and how they measure themselves.

You bring nothing into this world, and you will take nothing out, except the treasures you have stored up in heaven.

Thomas Jefferson said, "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of a all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

That prophecy was fulfilled either under Georg Herbert Bush or Bill Clinton.

We are there.

That prophecy was fulfilled

No fooling. I'm luck not to be living in a cardboard box under the bridge. I doubt they doubt t doubt they doubt they doubt they would allow that around here, anyway.

When I worked for the State of Illinois, some kids built a clubhouse under a bridge on the North Shore Channel. It was in between the girders. I was off the day they found it, so one of the guys drove me over there to have a look.

We got there, and went under the bridge. I walked up to it, and heard some voices coming from inside. There was a little hatch door, and I pushed it open. I w I was I w I was wearing my hard hat. There were two girlies up there smoking weed.

When I opened the hatch, they said "Who are you?" "I'm the bridge inspector.", I I said. Then I said, "This can't be allowed. It causes undue lateral stress on the I-beams. I'll have to report it."

They said, "Oh, don't report it. We'll do anything."

Needless to say, I'll let you use your imagination as to what transpired. ROTFLOL

There was a bridge out here that they had a 20 ton weight limit on for a few months. When they finished up grading it to support 40 ton loads again, it was re-opened to all traffic. ;)
