Unbelievable! The Latest Liberal University Outrage Will Make You Want To Throw Up
I’m having flashbacks to George Orwell’s 1984. And, if you know the book, you’ll understand why I say that this is a double-plus idiotic situation.
Liberal university professors at Washington State University are threatening students grades if students use terms that these professors consider racist or sexist. You know, terms like “illegal alien,” “male,” and “female.” Or if they don’t give special consideration (they use the term “defer”) to non-white students.
Now, when we’re dealing with racism and sexism, let’s deal with things that are actually insulting instead of thinking that any perception of difference is somehow a slur. How, exactly, is a descriptor about the amount of melanin in my skin a slur? How is acknowledging that I cannot physically give birth to children (I am male) sexist? How, exactly, is “illegal alien” racist when anyone who enters any country illegally is an illegal alien in that country?

“[S]tudents taking Professor Rebecca Fowler’s ‘Introduction to Comparative Ethnic Studies’ course will see their grades suffer if they use the term “illegal alien” in their assigned writing.
According to her syllabus, students will lose one point every time they use the words ‘illegal alien’ or “illegals” rather than the preferred terms of ‘”undocumented” migrants/immigrants/persons.’ Throughout the course, Fowler says, students will ‘come to recognize how white privilege functions in everyday social structures and institutions.'”
This nonsense has to stop. If we can’t actually address how people actually are different, how are we going to learn to appreciate those differences?
