China's state-owned food processing company, China National Cereals, Oils, and Foodstuffs Corp. (COFCO Group), has announced plans to build two warehouses, each with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes, on the most southeastern region of Russia bordered by China and North Korea, Shanghai-based Guancha Syndicate reports. The company is especially interested in the Mikhailovsky priority development territory in Russia's Primorsky Krai. It is the only territory focusing on food production, processing and agricultural logistics among the nine priority development territories permitted by the Russian government, said Chi Jingtao, vice president of COFCO Group, during the China-Russia Expo in Harbin. Enterprises investing in the priority development territory are being offered zero profit tax and land tax, in addition to zero tariff and loan subsidies and low rental expenses. Their insurance expenses can be lowered to 7.6% from 30% after ten years of operation in the area. The Russian government will pay for any infrastructure, including roads and electricity, the report said. Related News Other Chinese investors are also interested in the Mikhailovsky priority development territory as well. For example, China CAMC Engineering plans to invest in a processing factory for oils and soybeans, with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day, and Hop Fung Group plans to build factories for animal husbandry and products. Why, since China is heavily populated, has the largest population on earth, and is plagued with pollution, is a major food eporter? Have you looked at a can of 'Chicken of The Sea' tuna (or any tuna) and seen the country of origin? How about 75% of the shrimp sold in the grocery store? U.S. Constitution - Article IV, Section 4: NO BORDERS + NO LAWS = NO COUNTRY
In my case, avoid tuna because of mercury, shrimp because of cholesterol. Although albacore may be OK if you can find it.
