Jim, I know you`re hip to this game but I just have to talk about this , a lot of people still do not believe this. A friend of mine was in needing a new phone , I told her just get something basic, no smartphone .... Well , low & behold , she gets to the store & they offer her this great deal on a new Android (google) ... Oooook , this morning , we went to get coffee , I`m telling her she needs to get a firearm for her home / defense , and a good easy access safe . We`re talking , about 1 minute later , her new Droid makes a notification sound (Gmail) .. WTF is the email about ???? "Great prices on biometric firearms safes" on Ebay ! I know this is nothing new to you,but I just had to throw it out there . Keep up the great work

That is understandable, if aggravating. For the fone to start doing it on what was just spoken, really nasty. I suppose it's just got software that recognizes spoken words and this doesn't represent a new level of surveillance, but I still hate it.

Welcome to the surveillance state of amerika, total .gov awareness.

Unplugging from everything seems to be the only way out.

I think that would represent a new level of surveillance, if you compare that capability to the older phones that do not have the computing power to do that.

Everybody knows that the NSA computers parse telephone conversations for words and phrases that gov finds interesting, and for that reason people ought to be careful what they say on the phone. But if your phone can listen to you when you're not even on a phone call, and if it can do the parsing locally, then inform gov of it's findings, that is a whole new level of big brotherhood.

Its been this way for awhile... i had phone repair friends telling me back in 2007 that everything spoken over a land line or cell gets recorded... he told me he only owned a cell phone and at night it charged in his truck. Away from him and his.

I have a flip-phone in the truck for emergencies only. I think that it takes pictures, but I don't have any idea how to do that, and lack the curiosity to learn how.

That is exactly how i handle it... i figure i have safety in numbers and lack of anything worth investigating... HOWEVER i do know how to go off grid, what to dispose of, how far i can get on foot or in a car in a certain aloted amount of time, i know to avoid atms and red light cameras, one really can go off grif still, you just have to know how fully developed the grid is so you can avoid it.

Lol, thats a south pacific island fantasy , lol, we live in the real world and this shit exists.... the trick now is not to put the genie back in the bottle for thats impossible, the trick now is to shackle this genie, or technology, so that we remain in cotrol of it rather than subjected by it.

red light cameras

I recall seeing those cameras when I was in Charlotte, NC in the big truck a nu number of years ago. I heard they were ruled unconstitutional.

They've always been controversial. "The [Chicago] Tribune paid for a scientific study that showed the red light cameras have done little to make drivers safer and may have caused an increase in injury-related crashes."

I've heard that some towns took down the cameras because they were hurting ticket revenue -- seriously. It's also alleged some states have lifted bans on radar detectors because they make people safer drivers.

All I know is that you still cannot have one in a big truck. And it has nothing to d to d to d to d to to d to do with safety reasons. If they catch you bringing one into Cana Canada, they will sma will smas smash it on the ground in front of your eyes.

It is all still about the money. They want the revenue. It's that simple.

What will you do when they discontinue the use of cash? Everything will be digital at that point. It still will not eliminate ways to get what you want without them being able to track your purchases. (illegal sales, such as drugs) ;)

I heard they we're ruled unconstitutional.

Just because they cant be used as tools to generate revenue for the state, that doesn't mean they dont work. We got our red light cameras in comal and guadalupe county after some of those rulings.

Those cameras still work and they stilled record and transmit everything in their view fields. Of course if you need a copy dont expect the police to be sharing.
