You sell to people who jump through the loopholes they need to so they can get the guns theyre allowed to have. Then more laws start piling up and soon the state you live in decides theyre going to force you to sell a gun you dont even want to sell. Sounds unfair doesnt it. Thats what store owners in New Jersey are expected to do if Senator Loretta Weinbergs new bill goes through. Her bill would require shop owners to sell smart guns, even if the gun store owner didnt want to: State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg said she intends to introduce a bill Thursday that would replace New Jerseys 13-year-old smart gun law that gun enthusiasts have blocked from implementation. Weinberg (D-Bergen) said she will seek the repeal of the 2002 law requiring New Jersey firearms dealers to sell only smart guns three years after they are available on the market. Although the fingerprint technology exists that renders a weapon unworkable by anyone other than the owners, gun rights activists have intimidated gun shop owners from selling smart guns, in fear of starting the clock on the three-year countdown. Weinberg said she will introduce a measure that repeals that mandate and replaces it with a requirement that dealers carry at least one smart gun in their inventory. Weinberg, who announced in May she was working on a new law, made the announcement on what that legislation would do during Sundays edition of 60 Minutes. In an interview Monday, Weinberg said she hopes to get the law repealed and replaced before the end of the legislative session in January. The state law boosted investment in developing smart gun technology, but the guns are still not available anywhere in the country. It is a very complex issue, so we move ahead so we can continue to have more of an investment in research and development, Weinberg said. During President Obamas visit in Newark Monday, Weinberg said she intends to share with him information about the technology to gain his support. We need the (Obama) administration to help invest in this great new technology. Weinberg, who has served in the state legislature since 1992, said this bill and gun control matters in general have generated more objections than any other issue she has tackled. This is one issue that arouses more vitriol than any other, and I have been involved with a womans right to choose, indoor smoking and home-schooling, she said. What she likely doesnt understand, or doesnt want to understand, are smart guns are not foolproof. Additionally theyre also horrible for self-defense because if another person attempts to use it for protection it might not allow them to use the weapon. Not exactly what you want for a gun designed to keep you safe. At the end of the day her bill is nothing more than another exercise in totalitarianism and will hurt far more people than it helps. Jues have been the anti-gun movement from the start. Pastor Pete Peters covered this as only he could -- believe BroNat has too.
Sen. Diane Feinstein is a prime example of this. ;)
And the "former" communist Senator Matzaball before her! Hah, get THIS double- talk en.wikipedi a.org/wiki/Howard_Metzenbaum#Retirement Yeah, the bastard never "REPRESENTED" the CP. Nice verb choice. Different I'm sure from the one in the accusation.
I'm glad Metzenbaum is long dead. He was a thorn in our sides far too long. ;)
