In my common sense view of things, an invisible substance sometimes referred to as Aether fills all space where matter doesn't displace it, much like how an air bubble displaces water.

Bands of Aether under pressure around matter is what creates gravity, and waves through Aether are what are electro-magnetic waves, of which light consists of a narrow range of frequencies of such.

Electricity is the flow of Aether around matter, and magnetism is the force created by opposition to that flow.

Plasma is a bit different than what I was referring to. Plasma is simply a gas which has an elevated energy state (also known as an ionized gas) causing it to give off light and conduct electricity.

For instance, lightning is a momentary plasma created by huge differences in electrical potential in our atmosphere.
