Yes. Even the Crusaders were falsely accused by crisis actors who claimed to be in fear of them on the march; so that royals and bishops and such would provide them with "refuge" in places of power -- make them a protected class supposedly in need of extra special security measures. The difference in modern times is that it's not quite as easy anymore to get away with staging a false flag simply by lying accusations, so photo and film fakery productions and other rigged exhibits are presented as news/"evidence" to help the connivers deceive their "marks" -- usually for the same objectives as earlier eras: more security and expenditures of state for them, less freedom for others, wars...

Christian-Jewish Relations: The Crusades (1095 - 1291)
Soon it was rumored that Godfrey of Bouillon himself had vowed that he would not set out for the Crusade until he had avenged the crucifixion by spilling the blood of the Jews, declaring that he could not tolerate that even one man calling himself a Jew should continue to live. ... the leaders of the Mainz community hastily dispatched a delegation to Emperor Henry IV, who wrote immediately to the princes, bishops, and counts of the empire to forbid them to harm the Jews. Godfrey himself replied that he had never had any such intention.

While it briefly details the U.S.S Maine incident, it does not at all touch on all the evidence which proved beyond a reasonable doubt that it was 1) either a false flag attack, or 2) an accident which in either case, has nothing to do with Spain. Furthermore, it completely omits the fact that all of the other Pacific nations that would eventually become American colonies, were separate pre-emptive military actions/acts of aggression/wars, against independent sovereign nations. The Philippine-American war for instance, was a much larger conflict than the Spanish-American war itself." ... "It is a mystery how the battleship Maine exploded in the Puerto de la Havana, if I analyze things, to me, were some Cubans (who fought for Cuba to become independent of Spain) which somehow exploded Battleship Maine. In that way caused the US to become envolved in the war with Spain"

On Febuary 15th 1898, while assigned to protect US Interests in Havana Cuba during the Cuban War of Independence against Spain, the battleship USS Maine was destroyed by a massive explosion killing all but 74 of her 350 man crew. Through a combination of hysteria and yellow jurnalism the destruction of the Maine triggered the five month Spanish-American War. In 1912 the Maine was raised and resunk in deep water, ...
SUMMARY From Edison films "war extra" catalog: Taken in Havana Harbor from a moving launch, and shows the wreck of the "Maine" surrounded by wrecking boats and other vessels. The warped and twisted remains show how thoroughly this immense mass of iron and steel was blown out of all semblance of a vessel. The background of this picture is formed by the shores of Havana Harbor, and as the yacht moves around, a panoramic view of the shores adds an interesting feature.
