Hal Lindsey Leaving TBN ... Refuses to Compromise to Stay on Air

The following is a copy of my letter of resignation to Trinity Broadcasting Network. I want to make it clear that I bear no ill will toward TBN. I am thankful for the opportunities of ministry they gave me. It is just that we have two different beliefs about how to deal with false religion and evangelize those trapped within in it. Here is the letter:

January 1, 2006

Dear Paul and Jan,

Paul, Jr. relayed your message to me that you are both in agreement on the policy of nothing negative being said on TBN about Muslims. Hearing that you also warned John Haggee, Perry Stone, Jack VanImpe and others of this policy caused me to realize that your are not going to modify your position.

I love and respect you both and know your heart for evangelism of the Muslims. But I don't agree with your reasoning that warning about the dangers of "radical Islam" is a hindrance to the Gospel to all Muslims. The 'Radicals' are intimidating the moderate Muslims -- not to mention their terrible persecution of Arab and Palestinian Christians.

Jesus confronted false religion (which Islam is) by calling them "whitewashed tombstones", "Brood of vipers", and "sons of hell" in Matthew 23.

I am sure of my calling from the LORD. One important part of that calling is to sound a prophetic alarm to America and the world about the dangers of the false religion of Fundamental Islam. It is a "Watchman on the Wall" kind of calling.

In addition, the IIB is a news show from a Christian perspective. It is impossible to report the news without mentioning in a 'negative light' the radical Islamists who are wreaking murder and destruction on the Western world daily. It is truthfully reporting the most relevant news that made IIB one the most popular programs on TBN.

It is also absolutely unacceptable to me to require my script to be submitted for censorship each week and then to learn whether my program will be aired or not. I don't have much money and it costs me a lot out of pocket to produce each show. When it is rejected or pre-empted, it is a big loss for me.

So with regret and grief, I am not returning to TBN. I intend to pursue other avenues of ministry. I thank you for the years of association in the ministry. May God continue to bless you in your pursuit of evangelizing the world.

In Christ's grace, Hal Lindsey

With all due respect, I think you need to check your information sources. The terrorists who are attacking this country are the enemy within and they are not muslims (except for one Grover Norquist).

Religion is being used as a tool of manipulation to keep people from seeing who the real enemies are. Don't let it blind you.

14th-century Byzantine Saint, Gregory Palamas, to his Turkish captors:

"It is true that Muhammad started from the east and came to the west, as the sun travels from east to west. Nevertheless he came with war, knives, pillaging, forced enslavement, murders, and acts that are not from the good God but instigated by the chief manslayer, the devil."

That said, I agree with you that real, legitimate concerns regarding Islam have been exploited and used against the public. Eastern Christendom was among the first to fight against Islam. They haven't been able to answer the delima in 1400+ years. I somehow doubt I will come up with the answer on a message board.

Lindsey is an idiot...He needs to have been sent packing.. And Lindsey using Matt 23 in that way was more than a stretch it was fraudulent.. I dont like TBN but I give them credit for sticking to what their purpose SHOULD be .. to evangelize .. the demonizing of all muslims is disgusting and certainly NOT Christlike.. Lindsey needs to get a job bagging groceries.. he's no doubt misled more Christians than any false religion has probably in 2000 years..

Dear Hal,

The 'Radicals' are intimidating and brainwashing the moderate Muslims Jews and Christians -- not to mention their terrible persecution of all Arabs and Palestinians.

As objectionable as all these people are, the idiots among them still managed to do the right thing. Hal's ego is all "caught up" (to coin a phrase) in his interpretation of the end times, and it has blinded him from basic Christian values and teachings.

I wonder if he also thinks this about Islam's sister religion, Judaism?

In 1947, the UN created a perpetual war and named it Israel.

Well there's 2,000 year old record that includes what He thought of the Sanhedrin.

Interesting that Jack Abramoff's operations were codenamed "Sanhedrin".

Yes, and they're winning. America is being destroyed from within. I think it was Nikita Khrushchev who promised that one day, one of their own would be sitting in the Oval Office.

Well we do have 2 ex-KGB in DHS. This is from 4/2003...

Former KGB counter-intelligence chief, General Oleg Kalugin, who is a Fox News commentator, recently stated that Admiral Poindexter's Office of Information Awareness (OIA) which is involved in spying on United States citizens, had hired both General Yevgeny Primakov and General Aleksandr V. Karpos, former KGB heads, as consultants and advisors. (Primakov in addition served as Russian Prime Minister in the late nineties.) (Note: The KGB was the Secret Police in the former Soviet Union)

BTW on Primakov, "His parents were Jews. As a young man he changed his name to Primakov from Finkelstein."
