Thanks to a forum at this past Novembers American Public Health Associations annual meeting, doctors have been encouraged to push the gun control agenda. Strongly supported by the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence, you can expect to hear some questions under the guise of a public health agenda.
Describing her efforts in the panel, Kartzburg said, We are hoping to forge a national coalition of partners to push the agenda of a public health approach to gun violence prevention forward.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence president Dan Gross echoed Kartzburgs sentiment and spoke of how his group values the opportunity to partner with doctors in this gun control push. Gross said:
Cross-sector partnerships are incredibly important to us, especially partnerships in the health and public health area. Because gun violence, at the end of the day, has been looked at too long through a political lens. Its a public health issue, and its one of the most pressing public health issues facing our country today.
A turn of phrase from the up-front gun control to discussing it as a public health or public safety issue, gun control advocates feel that their objective can be reached more easily. It is the same goal the confiscation of guns merely wrapped in different, pretty packaging. This manipulation of patients is a stealthy way to push their agenda, and gain entrance into the lives of American citizens.
