An American rapper says he has been deported from Switzerland and banned from returning for three years after being found guilty of assault at a Zurich nightclub following a punch up between musicians and members of the audience that sent six people to hospital.
Ron Braunstein, 39, a rapper from Brooklyn who performs under the name Necro, was arrested early Saturday along with his sidekick, known as Mr. Hyde, and a bodyguard at the Komplex 457 nightclub after a fight during his concert that involved a Swiss rapper and spectators, according to media reports.
“I plead guilty to my charges — my charges were giving four men concussions & breaking their teeth,” Necro said on his Facebook page.
He said this was “all in self-defence” to defend three of his crew members “against some hater snitches”.
Organizer of the soiree, Jeronimo Vargas, earlier told the 20 Minuten newspaper that the fight first broke out between a Zurich rapper who preceded Necro, and Necro’s security guard, before Mr. Hyde joined in, provoking a brawl among several people.
The website tillate.com reported that the rapper was handed a suspended prison term of six months in addition to being banned from the country.
Justice officials have not commented on the case, citing privacy legislation.
On his Facebook page Necro said he spent “100 hours in solitary confinement in a room with barely any air, with one hour a day allowed outside”.
He said he was "flying on the plane home now", presumably to the US.
