Dead Constitution See other Dead Constitution Articles Title: Impending New Kiev Trade Blockade of Crimea Impending New Kiev Trade Blockade of Crimea by Stephen Lendman US-installed Kiev fascists plan another blockade of Crimea, targeting trade - its latest lunatic scheme guaranteed to fail, along with providing more evidence of an out-of-control regime. An official mid-December illegitimate prime minister Yatsenyuk announcement said the following: “According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which in accordance with the law on the Crimean free economic zone will come into force within 30 days since its adoption, and in accordance with customs regulations, all supplies of work, goods and services from the temporary occupied territory to the other territory of Ukraine and/or from the territory of Ukraine to the temporary occupied territory of Ukraine, except for personal belongings of citizens, socially important foods and humanitarian assistance, are banned.” Last New Year’s eve, Kiev imposed an economic blockade on Crimea. In spring 2014, it stopped supplying the peninsula with water. Russia fully restored the supply. It’s able to successfully deal with any restrictions Kiev imposes, shooting itself in the foot for trying. In November, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Astrid Thors expressed concern about Kiev’s blockade schemes, heightening tensions more than already. Right Sector extremists are blocking trucks transiting from Ukraine to Crimea. Its officials said attempted obstructions have had no effect on supplying food and other basic supplies to the population. Earlier, Russian upper house Federation Council International Relations Committee chairman Konstantin Kosachev called Kiev’s activities toward Crimea a PR stunt, “the theater of the absurd.” Russia’s lower house State Duma International Affairs Committee chairman Alexey Pushkov earlier said “(i)f Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko is to be believed, the purpose of Crimea’s blockade is to achieve its return to Ukraine. But the result is obvious - the blockade is doomed to have a backlash effect.” Another Russian politician referred to Kiev’s extremist actions as “not even a mosquito bite, (something) nobody cares to take note of.” Other Russian officials expressed the same sentiment.
