The Sweden Democrats rose from the ashes of this milieu. Formed in 1988, the party was a coalition between ex-members of the BSS and leading figures of Nazi organizations like Nordiska Rikspartiet (Nordic Nations Party). The party spent the early and mid-1990s mobilizing the far right against the Swedish political establishment. The party, which stemmed from the Keep Sweden Swedish and the Swedish Progress parties in the late 1980s, dwindled with little support for several years.

Bevara Sverige Svenskt (BSS, “Keep Sweden Swedish”) was a Swedishracist[1][2] movement based in Stockholm and is a slogan used by various Swedish nationalist parties. The stated objective of the BSS movement, and the aim of the slogan, was to initiate a debate in order to stop immigration by non-Europeans and repatriate non- ethnic Swedes. Inspiration came from the post-WW2 fascist organisationNysvenska Rörelsen created by Per Engdahl.[3]
Claiming not to be racists, their often aggressive sticker campaigns arguably spoke a different language with slogans such as “Låt inte din dotter bli en negerleksak” (Don’t let your daughter become a negro toy) and “Negrer hotar sina offer” (Negros threaten their victims).[1]
