Hartzler: We 'Owe it' to Americans to Repeal Obamacare By Sandy Fitzgerald | Saturday, 02 Jan 2016 10:57 AM Next week, Congress will send a bill to the White House in hopes of repealing Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood next week, and Rep Vicky Hartzler said in Saturday's GOP address that the president will need to make some important decisions. "We owe it to the American people to take our best shot at repealing Obamacare, and thats what well do next week, the Missouri Republican said. "As a result, President [Barack] Obama will soon have a choice: Does he support the people and womens health, or does he support Washington mandates and tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood?" Hartzler, who co-chairs the House Values Action Team and member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, is a member of the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, commented that the bill is a "significant step" to improve the nation's healthcare system, as patients would be able to choose an insurance plan without Washington interfering. "Thats the problem with Obamacare," Hartzler said. "It forces people to buy insurance thats much more expensive than what they need. And when you force millions of people to buy expensive and unaffordable insurance, its not that surprising to see premiums going up." Deductibles are rising too, and Americans are losing their doctors and can't find a good insurance plan. "If we want to make health insurance more affordable, we should make insurance companies compete for your business," she said. "That means we should not force people to buy insurance. It means the exact opposite. Our bill addresses this injustice by eliminating the core of Obamacare: It repeals the individual mandate." The bill also eliminates the employer mandate, and taxes on items like prescription drugs and medical devices. Further, she said that the main point of healthcare is to preserve and protect life, so that is why the bill stops taxpayer funding for abortion providers. "The people have, for years, asked Congress to stop sending taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, especially after we learned last year of the disturbing practices Planned Parenthood officials engage in such as harvesting and selling baby body parts," said Hartzler. "These actionsalong with the hundreds of thousands of abortions they perform each year show a blatant disregard for human life." The bill redirects the funding to community health centers, "which serve eight times more women patients" and provide "much more comprehensive care" than Planned Parenthood, said Hartzler. The legislation, officially called the Restoring Americans Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, is heading directly to Obama's desk by way of the reconciliation process, which allowed it to avoid being blocked by Democrats in the Senate, Hartzler said. A properly jaundiced comment -- not what I was expecting :-] There are enough wiggle-words here. I want to believe she's in earnest, but since we're never particularly heard of her before, who knows. Sounds imitation vanilla here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicky_Hartz ler In any cases, the noises being made about junking Obongocare are pleasant indeed.
