Man reportedly wearing body armor, taking photos of schools is shot dead

Published January 06, 2016 FoxNews.com

Police in northern Illinois shot and killed a man suspected of taking photographs of schools while apparently wearing body armor Wednesday morning after a struggle, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Officers responded in Zion around 8:30 a.m. after a man was reportedly spotted taking photos of local schools, according to a statement from the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

“The suspicious person was located by officers and a foot pursuit ensued,” the statement said. “It appeared the offender was wearing body armor. After the foot pursuit, a struggle with the offender and officers ensued, which resulted in the offender being shot.”

Officers at the scene tried to keep him alive, authorities said, and the man was then taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A woman interviewed by the Tribune said she heard gunshots around 8:30 a.m. and saw CPR being performed on a man lying on the ground.

Cops said they did not have any other suspects. The identities of the man who was shot and the officer who fired were not immediately released.

Several schools were placed on lockdown after the shooting, but the lockdowns were lifted by early afternoon, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

A news conference was scheduled for 4 p.m.

He was wearing body armor and taking pictures of schools? I'm sure that camera was loaded and this guy was a dangerous subject.

Just curious..... why was he doing it? Body armor??? Sure sounds like there's something they're not telling us. Of course this is a terrible BushObamaNation atrocity but one does wonder.

There is usually something that they are not telling us. In today's America, shooting pictures at the school without permission seems the be something that is verboten. ;)

This is straight out of not only Orwell's 1984, but Hedrick Smith's The Russians. This hit title dates from the late USSR era. NYT reporter toured the behemoth and charted the bizarre scenes and behavior of people being stomped every day by communism. He was bemused to learn, among many other things, that people weren't allowed to photograph government buildings for any reason -- imagine that!

1984 gives the theory and oracle, The Russians is where you see every bit of it carried out before the fall off the wall and 9/11. Wonder when 1984 was lastly frequent reading among middle-schoolers?

I once read that people were afraid to even glance at Soviet gov bldgs when passing by them on the street. Keep your eyes straight ahead; don't draw the psychopaths' attention.
