(Buried DEEP in the text is the point: THEY FINALLY DROPPED THE CHARGES. NN)

TRINIDAD, Texas – After almost 15 years, what is believed to be the longest armed standoff in American history quietly came to a peaceful close Wednesday.

"Being a peace officer, you do have some emotions — that you would like to see him brought before court and the case tried — but on the other hand, was it worth all that it might have cost to do that?" said Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt.

John Joe Gray was arrested in 1999 for assaulting a state trooper during a traffic stop. Gray said it was his God-given right to carry the pistol he had that day, without a concealed handgun license. When the trooper tried to arrest him, Gray admits getting into a scuffle and biting him.

Gray was eventually charged with assaulting a public servant. But he refused to return to court, and instead, armed himself at home.

"If they come out after us, bring extra body bags. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword," Gray told ABC News in a 2000 interview.

Since the felony charge in 1999, Gray has never left his 47-acres along the banks of the Trinity River between Tool and Trinidad, Texas.

Instead, Gray, his children, grandchildren, and friends patrol their property with pistols and rifles and refuse to let strangers inside.

National Geographic said it took a crew two years to earn the family’s trust recently.

"We've never shot no one yet,” Gray told Nat Geo. “But they know, if they come on us, they'll be surprised what's going to happen to them".........

But when a reporter relayed the same message at Gray's property, it was met with skepticism. “We can’t believe anything they say, and we can’t believe anything y’all reporters say,” said a woman armed with a rifle.

How could dshe be so untrusting?

It's clearly a case of a white racist's bigotry and prejudice again our outstanding, honorable journalists, isn't it.

If we sift out the horseshit and start to be intellectually honest about the situation concerning this man, his family, and for that matter many other Americans, we are all incarcerated to some degree.

Can you move about the country without restrictions ? Hell no you can't. You have to beg permission from your State and Federal masters. You have to do business with some Insurance provider that may or may not pay your claim. You will be asked for your papers by military asshats at "Check points.

Can you marry without Uncle Sambo's permission ? Not in this free country. Can your new born child enjoy freedom without Big Brothers stamp of approval ? Not on your life, Mr and Mrs Libertarian. Your kid is a numbered slave within moments of birth and not only that, the poor kid is already thousands in debt. Then, the poor little tot will have to undergo some politically correct edumacation and learn to bow down to illegal aliens, queers, black crack-heads, and above all else he/she will have to repeat endlessly that 6 million hebes were gassed during WWII and all Jews are chosen by God so that they can sneak around murdering billions of people while robbing them of their heritage, culture and wealth.

If the above bullshit is freedom you can have it.

EDIT: I left out WACO and RUBY RIDGE where nearly one hundred of our fellow Americans were slaughtered by Uncle Sambo's mercenaries.

Maybe they have been lied to in the past. I don't blame them for not believing what the presstitutes say, either. The days of freedom of the press are long gone, and the MSM is nothing but a bunch of lapdogs. ;)

Even in rural Texas there are pressitutes.

This poor guy has been in his own prison out there on his property for 15 years. I'm glad they finally dropped the charges and he is now a free man. ;)

Even in rural Texas there are pressitutes.

When I worked for the Sate of Illinois, we had a big shot engineer that wrote an op-ed for the Chicago Tribune that was titled, "I Am A Zionist".

He was in the yard one day. His car was dirty and I wrote "WASH ME" on it. When he saw that, he started jumping up and down and screaming. They made the yard toady wash his car. It was funny as hell. ROTFLMAO!

I'm glad they didn't Wacoize him and his family. As for being in prison, I doubt if he looked at it that way. (His family members might have considered themselves prisoners.) Lot of people, usually women, who are perfectly content to never go out of the house.

Yeah, and isn't he impressive in his way? I have to hand it to a man with this kind of principles. He actually stood the state of Texas down on a big tense woo-woo legal battle and won. Quite a sacrifice, open-ended self-imposed house arrest. TX got their pound of flesh in a sense, but I somehow can't believe they dropt the charges even if they DID expire whenthe one bureaucrat left -- the fedgov would NEVER be that lenient with its super-colossal ego hanging in the balance!

As you point out, there are worse things than staying home. THANKS FOR THE PINGS ON THIS, gang -- my life hangs on your pingage!
