Title: Pope to Catholics: Oh My God, Please Stop Having So Many Kids

Cool Pope (real name) just came back from visiting the largest Catholic nation in Asia and he's got some thoughts he needs to let out, namely the fact that maybe catholics have a "moral responsibility" not to have as many kids as they're having.

Of course Cool Pope doesn't say that Catholics should use contraception, but according to USA Today he says there are lots of ways that his flock can practice "responsible parenting" that doesn't involve the outside world invading their families nor produces so many children that parents have a hard time taking care of them.

From USA Today:

His comments on the subject of birth control, made aboard the papal jet returning to Rome from the Philippines, were described as apparently unprecedented by the National Catholic Reporter, an independent news organization that follows the Vatican.

Francis said there are plenty of church-approved ways to regulate births. He also said no outside institution should impose its views on regulating family size, blasting what he called "ideological colonization" of the developing world.

African bishops have long complained that Western ideas about birth control and gay rights are being imposed on the developing world by groups, institutions or nations, often as a condition for development aid.

"Every people deserves to conserve its identity without being ideologically colonized," Francis said......

(Isn't that a switch! And not being trumpeted worldwide as a major change of RC "teaching"? Half of Humanae Vitae, shot to pieces in one seemingly casual utterance from a plane. Needless to say I like it, and suspect the good folks at VHEMT will too. "A blind hog will find an acorn every now and then...." NN)

This is from a blog quoting the usatoday quoting the ncr. NCR is legit so ill have to see if they reported what the pope actually said.

It appears from the quote above they're referring to the african bishops complaint that in order for these poorest nations to get aide, they're forced to comply with. The homo agenda and offer contraception to women, both sins in Catholicism. That is why the pope replied that they shouldn't be "ideologically colonized".

As far as comments the pope made on a plane, which are often twisted by the jew secular media, take it with a grain of salt and go to the original source.

Furthermore, regardless of what a pope quips on a plane, that has NOTHING to do with "changing the teaching of the catholic church." Nothing whatsoever has changed, other than this PR war and a particularly modernist and left leaning pontiff.

The teaching may have changed, but it surely appears he's making a major exception to it all of a sudden. We shall look forward to whatever refutation comes forth -- or equally to a lack of it.

I believe you meant to write "the teaching may NOT have changed, but...."

Am I correct?

I do see your point though, that if the pope quips something of a radical leftist that goes against what even non catholics know is our tradition, the public at large takes that to mean that "the teaching has finally changed, got with the times!"

This pope has made so many such statements its incredible.. that we should never even try to convert jews, that atheists can go to heaven, that who is he to judge homos, there is even one in spanish going around that claimed the pope said there was no hell. The sad part is that I wouldn't find it hard to believe that he would say something that would be interpreted that way.

That particular one I haven't had the stomach to researxh/refute it.

This pope causes traditional Catholics much consternation.

You're right -- that's what I meant.

In other words, he's bloody awful and really not much of a Catholic, huh! I'm afraid the statement stands until somebody just like you proves otherwise, and it's way beyond a mere quip or implication. But surely you agree with him in this case? Encyclical or no encyclical, people have to attempt to limit family size to what's manageable, right?

I used to worship the huge-family ideal and feel guilty for not having a dozen myself. But things are rarely as simple as they seem, and as I've mentioned it now appears a woman's later children are more prone to defects etc.

Like I said, I don't believe he said folks shouldn't have kids. I will verify what he actually said & reply to it later.

The sad truth is that the rcc is in shambles. I've read that many if not most modern "catholic" women are on the pill which is not only a sin, but they're also abortifacient, not preventing conception, but implantation.

There are very good theological reasons to not fall for the judeo-masonic led birth control mindset. It is very fear based, selfish & anti God. .

Right. He said they should only have the kids they can afford in so many words, and I think we both know what percentage of WOMEN worldwide would likely agree -- 90% wouldn't surprise me, certainly if they had the facts explained to 'em for the first time ever.

Machomania is a big factor in most of the world's problems and this is certainly no exception. Hell, in rural Mexico mere procreation without any responsibility attached to it is considered a macho merit badge.

We only have reality to deal with -- it's all we really have. Are you married? How many kids? Do tell.
